My message to a family member this April 4th best expresses my feelings:

Funny, I was thinking about you dad a lot today. Then, I realized today is his 10th year memorial. God, I miss him.
Hardly a day goes by when I'm on skis that he doesn't come to mind.
I know it's more complicated when he's your dad (instead of simply a hero), but I hope you remember him fondly as I do.
Coming from a simple, middle-class family, as I did, he was an inspiration and helped open a world to me that I might ordinarily have never known existed. One of money, yes, but more importantly, of reason, jenerousity, and humor in the face of adversity.
All my love to you and your family,
Mike

I miss John's sense of humor and warm humanity.
I would like to reach his widow, Betty, but do not have her address. Perhaps you could forward my email address to her: [email protected].
May John rest in peace.

John was my friend, my boss, and my tennis opponent. I had the rare privilege of working and traveling with John in Saudi Arabia in the mid 1970s when we both worked for Fairfield-Maxwell. He was very bright and had a great sense of humor. He also loved teasing and having a good laugh. I will miss my yearly visits to NYC and to John and Betty. May he rest in peace.

Sadly I am just learning of John's passing. He was a wonderful man, fun to be with, intellectually challenging and always uplifting. We came from different political persuasions but always got along. I loved John.

A very good friend has passed away. John was the finest man one could ever hope to know, he was a cornerstone, a shining light, a mentor, who was always engaged, interested, devoted, who loved his Family intensely and supported the weak and defenseless, who had intelligent opinions, who had a strong will and a soft heart and will be so dearly missed. He will always remain in Our hearts. Warmest memories from Knut and his wife and family
