John P. Maffeo

JOHN P. MAFFEO Born and raised in Oakland, passed away on April 2, 2004 at the young age of 80 years. Cherished husband of 50 years to Gloria Dezzani Maffeo. Beloved father to Margaret Ann Penman and her husband, Tom of Fresno, CA. Loving and involved grandfather to Eric and Andrew Penman. Dear brother to Dominica Razeto and Marilyn and Al Giannell, brother-in-law to Virginia Maffeo and numerous close nieces and nephews here and in Italy. He is predeceased by his brother, Angelo Maffeo. Active parishioner and lifetime member of St. Theresa's Church, member of I.C.F., Branch #223, Serra, Ligure and St. Theresa's Men's Clubs. Graduate of St. Mary's College and UC Berkeley, where he received his Master's in Business Administration. He served his country in WWII in the Army Air Corp in Europe. John enjoyed growing grapes, winemaking, his vegetable garden, St. Mary's College activities, sports, family gatherings and spending time in Fresno with his family. A visitation will be held in the Mortuary Chapel Tuesday, April 6, 2004 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m., followed by a Vigil service commencing at 5:00 p.m. at St. Theresa's Church, 30 Mandalay Rd., Oakland. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at St. Theresa's Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette. Family prefers donations be made to St. Mary's College, P.O. Box 3400, Moraga, CA 94575 or St. Theresa's School of Endowment Fund.
