My condolences to John and Rae's family. We were friends from Madison days. I was Rae's roommate after she graduated from UW nursing school and I was an undergraduate. I have many, many happy memories from those times. In the early eighties I even met all the Mangos daughters as the Mangos family traveled through California. I was just looking at John and Rae's December, 1964 wedding announcement clipping from the Madison paper. They both will be in my heart forever.

My deepest condolences to June, Marriana, Elena and Jana. Your father was the kindest man I have ever known. Out of all the priests that have been at St Sophia in our 41 years of attending, he was my favorite. He married Michelle (my daughter) and baptized Mia (my granddaughter). He and your mom Rae were such an inspiration to us all. May his memory be eternal.

After almost rwenty years in private practice,I still use the lessons Dr. Mangos taught me with my pediatric patients every day. I feel very fortunate that he was the head of pediatrics at UTHSCSA when I was training there as a resident. I will remember him as unfailingly kind, knowledgeable yet ever without arrogance, a true example for all of us of what it means to practice medicine with grace.

My life in San Antonio was a short 6 years; meeting and getting to know Dr. Mangos was one of the highlights. He was so dedicated to children, research and his family, yet had a heart big enough for his working family too. I'm honored to have spent quality time with him in his later years. My condolence to his family and all those who loved him.
