OBITUARY JOHN GORDON MCINTYRE On August 17, John G. McIntyre passed away at the age of seventy-eight, with his family at his side. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Laurine (nee Breen), by his son John (Brenda Hepner) of Ladner BC, daughter Kathryn (Robert Wilson) of Australia, daughter-in-law Carol (Christie) of Brampton, ON, daughter Jane (Frank Mastrandrea) of Grimsby, ON, son Robert of Calgary, AB and daughter Sandra (Mario Verrecchia) of Burlington, ON. He was predeceased by his son Thomas of Brampton, ON in 1999, his brother Donald McIntyre of MB in 1988 and brother-in-law Monsignor Russell Breen, PQ in 2005, whom he provided loving care for many years. He was the devoted and proud grandfather to his 22 grandchildren. He graduated as an eight-year man from Loyola College, Montreal in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He had a Business Management Certificate from the University of Western Ontario and a Diploma in Labour and Industrial Relations from McGill University. He enjoyed a very successful career in both Canada and Australia built upon a reputation of intelligence, integrity and hard work. John worked for Shell Canada Limited for 33 years in senior management positions. He then accepted a position at Genstar as Manager of Corporate Affairs. Following this position, John was the Chairman and CEO of the BC Utilities Commission for five years. John will always be remembered for his compassion, sense of responsibility and care for others demonstrated in his work fundraising as Past Chairman of the Board of Directors at St. Pauls Hospital, Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Richmond Gateway Theatre Society, initiating and raising $ 5 million for the building of the Richmond Caring Place as Chairman of the Campaign, his proudest achievement. His hard work at the Caring Place was acknowledged with a board room dedicated in his name. In recent years, John was on the Board of Directors of the Gardens of Gethsemani in White Rock, BC. John was also active in his many churches and most recently, Good Shepherd Church in White Rock where he was a lector. John was a member of many Rotary clubs and most recently the White Rock Probus club. John will always be remembered for his public speaking ability, sense of humour, his talent for regaling a good tale and his signature green pen. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 23 at 1:30 p.m. in Good Shepherd Parish 2250 150th St Surrey. Rev Stanley Galvon Celebrant In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the BC Lung Association or a childrens charity of your choice.

Dear Auntie Laurine and Family,

We were saddened to hear of Uncle John's passing. He was a man with great compassion for people, a family man and a just a great human being. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
