John Oss Memoriam

MEMORIAM John Anthony Oss Ph.D, Education Administration Died March 22, 2004, 1:30 A.M. If you should die before me, ask if you could bring along a friend. It's been 1 year since John lost his courageous battle with Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma. As with every challenge in John's life, he rose up to the challenge, gave it all he had and more. John was first a teacher, High School Principal, then Superintendent of Schools, but most of all a great Dad, grand-dad, son, brother, friend and a wonderful husband. He never took the easy road! After graduating from Loyola High School (Jesuits) in Montreal, he searched around a little for his vocation. Once he found it there was no turning back. While teaching he took night and summer courses to educate himself further, to be a better teacher, then Administrator. He achieved a B.A., B.Ed, Masters, then Ph.D. But all, while holding down a full time teaching or Administration job. He certainly had his work ethic. He was a great example for his students and his own children. He had 3 dreams... to meet the love of his life, have a rewarding career, and a family. He had all 3., four children John Peter, Jo-Ann-Marie, Lindsey, Christopher, 5 grand-children, 1 great grand-son. During his career he also gave back. He began a program in Verdun, Quebec to help teen-agers during the evenings, week-ends and summers. It was called Operation Teenage. He was on the executive of the N.S.S.A., QUACSA, Roseway Hospital Board, Candidate for the Progressive Conservative Party (1979) and later found dwellings for homeless persons. I know... IF ALL THE PEOPLE, STUDENTS, EMPLOYEES who were helped by John were in one place... there would be a village. I am proud of what he accomplished. I am happy to have shared in your dream, John. It began in heaven.. and ends in heaven. Your loving wife, Carol Stewart Oss and family. E-mail: carol.john.oss@sympatico.ca">href="http://carol.john.oss">[email protected] P.S. A memorial mass will be celebrated May 24, 2005, 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady Gate of Dawn Church.
