Born Sept.1, 1924- died Aug 2, 2012
unexpectedly at the age of 87. He was born in Nyirderzs, Hungary where he worked from the age of 10, buying and selling scrap steel and by his early 20's he was a broker shipping produce by rail to market in Budapest. In 1948, he fled Hungary, due to the Soviet Communist invasion, and came to Canada. John worked at Ford, Kelsey Hayes, Chrysler and the tobacco fields in Simcoe. Shortly after that time he started a successful painting company -Ontario Painting and Decorating. For over 40 years, he worked for the Department of National Defense and other government departments- painting many military bases coast to coast throughout Canada. He was also owner/operator of Blue Bell Apartments in Fort Lauderdale for over 40 years. He was past President of the Windsor & District Hungarian Society and was a founding member of St. Mary's Hungarian Greek Catholic Church in Windsor. He was a proud Hungarian & Canadian and was active in the Liberal Party working along side them with his unwavering support. Predeceased by his parents Peter & Erzsebet Papp (nee Almasi) and brothers, Peter and sister-in-law Maria, Mihaly, Ferencz, and Laszlo of Hungary and sister Anna (Papp) Petis, brother-in-law Steve Petis, brother George Papp, sister-in- law RoseMary (Gujban) Papp, father-in-law Steve Yuhasz of Windsor and mother-in-law Erzsebet (Nee Zunko) Yuhasz of Alberta. Dear Uncle of nieces & nephews predeceased by Lacika & Istvan Petis, Ferencz Papp & niece Iren (Papp) Marki of Hungary and great nephew Joseph Halupa of Edmonton, AB, CA. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret (nee Yuhasz). Dear father of John Thomas (Belen) Papp, and Catherine Margaret Elizabeth Papp. Dear grandfather of Peter, Alex and Sara. Dear uncle to Anna (Petis) Halupa of Edmonton, AB, CA, George, Michael, Elizabeth (Papp) Salling and Paul of Windsor, ON CA, Ildiko (Petis) Svoren- Puscas of Troy, MI USA and Erzsebet, Laszlo, Maria, Klara, Gyorgy, Mihaly, Maria, Ili, Atilla, Peter, Zoltan Papp and sister-in-laws Marika, Erzsebet, Mancika and Anna (Ducsai) Papp in Hungary. Also survived by many great nieces,nephews and extended family in Canada, USA and Hungary. Visiting at the

Prayers Tuesday at 7 p.m. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at St. Michael's Slovak Byzantine Church (2100 Byng) from 9:15 a.m. until time of Divine Litergy and Funeral at 10 a.m. Interment Windsor Memorial Gardens.
