John Reed, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 7, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of John W. Reed, Jr. (Jack), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Jack peacefully passed away on September 29, 2024.

Born on August 18, 1947, in North Adams, Massachusetts, Jack grew up with a passion for hunting and football. After graduating from high school, he went on to serve his country in the Seabees of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War where he earned commendations for his service.

After his service, Jack returned to Massachusetts and began a long career in the construction industry, working for many years in the Boston area then eventually relocating to New Hampshire and starting his own thriving business.

Outside of work, Jack was first and foremost passionate about his family. Jack had a lifelong enjoyment of hunting and was a devoted fan of NASCAR and football. In his later years, Jack and Barbara travelled around the country, enjoying countless camping adventures with their favorite canine companion, Lugar. Jack had a truly special relationship with his seven grandchildren and cherished getting together with his family. He spent countless weekends on the sidelines of his grandchildren's sporting events, never missing a special senior day celebration or important playoff game.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Barbara Reed; his three children, Cheryl Kelesoglu (Robin) and Anne Prindle (Greg) and Monica Hagelberg; his seven grandchildren, Connor, Kyle, Zach, Jack, Emma, Honor, and Mae; and sisters Karen Lott and Tricia Weber. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Reed, Sr. and Anne Reed, sister Kathy Lee and brother, William Reed.

Jack will be remembered for his generosity and his dedication to family. Jack's presence was larger than life. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jack's family invites you to a celebration of his life on Sunday, October 27, 2024 in New Boston, New Hampshire. If you plan to join us, please RSVP at [email protected] for further details.
