John A. "J.T." Thomas

John A. “J.T.” Thomas, age 59, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly in the emergency department at Mercy Health Lorain Hospital on the evening of Tuesday January 18, 2022. J.T. was born in Lorain on December 14, 1962 and remained a life-long resident of the city; he was a 1981 graduate of Lorain High School.A self-employed landscape contractor, J.T had previously worked as a warehouseman for Bobel’s Office Supply, as a production assistant for the B.F. Goodrich Corporation in Avon Lake, and as a pizza chef for a variety of local pizzerias.Known for his keen sense of humor, J.T. enjoyed league bowling at the former Broadway Lanes and, more recently, at Rebman’s Recreation. He also displayed a passion for muscle cars and was the proud owner of his own Chevrolet Nova SS. He liked music of the 1970’s and 1980’s and especially appreciated the talent of Bob Seger and The Who. In addition, he was an avid fan of all three Cleveland professional sports franchises as well as The Ohio State University.Survivors include his father George M. “Mickey” Thomas of Lorain, sisters Anne Marie Thomas of Lorain and Laura Means (Jim) of Avon Lake, and brothers Roy Thomas of Chillicothe and Steven Thomas (Shannon) of Avon Lake. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.J.T. was preceded in death by his mother Phyllis M. “Punky” Thomas in 2012, paternal grandparents George J. and Anne B. Thomas, and maternal grandparents Roy H. and Hazel M. Dunker.Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain.
