Jon Copier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 14, 2024.
Jon Brady Copier 1980-2024

Whether it was treating people with kindness, lending a listening ear, showing off his burley beard, or telling a bad Dad joke, Jon always left people smiling.

Jon Brady Copier, 43, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, loving partner and friend, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024 in Riverton, UT surrounded by his loved ones. Jon fought many battles with multiple cancers throughout his short life, but finally succumbed to a brain tumor after an 8 year battle.

Jon was born on April 15, 1980 to John Antoon and Wanda Bangerter Copier in Salt Lake City, UT. He grew up in Murray, UT where he graduated from Murray High School in 1998. He later attended and graduated from Dixie State College and Weber State University majoring in Theatre Arts.

Jon married Alison Bennett (later divorced) and had a son, Benedict (Benny) John Copier who was his pride and joy and LEGO building buddy.

Jon loved technology, fixing things, and helping and teaching people. His working career was centered around these passions, with perhaps the most impactful time being his many years as a Lead Genius for Apple.

Jon started performing at a young age. His adorable tow head hair and blue eyes lead to being cast in some commercials for Hasbro at the age of 5, most notably for Wuzzles. This love for the arts continued throughout his youth and into adulthood. He was well known in the local theater community for many memorable performances at theaters across Utah including: Pioneer Theatre, Hale Centre Theatre, Egyptian Theatre (Park City), and The Grand.

Jon loved playing sports. He played a mean shortstop and could crush a softball. He was a longtime season ticket holder and die hard Real Salt Lake fan to the very end.

Jon is survived by his son, Benedict Copier, parents John and Wanda, sister Mandy, brother Nathan (Savannah), and nieces and nephew, Jenavee, Ezra and Hera Copier and by his loving partner, Leah Jean LeBlanc, whose tender care for him, especially the last few months, meant the world to Jon and his family.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 20, 2024 at 2pm in the Cultural Hall of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building on 14242 Loumis Parkway Drive in Bluffdale, UT followed by time for visiting with the family until 4:30pm

We'd like to thank Intermountain Hospice care for assisting us in Jon's care the last 6 weeks of his life.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to a fund set up for his son Benny. Donations can be made on Jon's Memorial Website page at: https://everloved.com/memorial/jon-copier/memorial-gifts/

John & Wanda,
We surely do not make plans to bury children before ourselves. This is painful. We pray for you to feel the peace of the Savior as you process such grief. You are loved.

I met Elder Copier in the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah where we would spend the next 8 weeks in Utah and Brazil learning Portuguese. There were 12 of us in our district and 11 of us went to Campinas, Brazil together. He was an amazing missionary and had a huge impact on many people, fellow missionaries, and me. He was always positive, loved life, had a strong testimony of the gospel, and a love of the Savior. He was well respected and I looked up to him and will always have a great love for my brother in the gospel and fellow missionary. God Bless Elder John Copier.

I met Jon at theater school as a teenager. For some reason we were always cast as doubles which means I never got to perform on the stage with him at the same time! We were doubles in Saturday's Warrior, Annie Get Your Gun at Pages Lane Theater and years later at Hale Theater in West Side Story and Big River. Although I had lost touch with him, I have great memories with him as a friend and colleague. RIP Jon. You touched my heart too. Love to you and your amazing family.

Jon will be greatly missed by his friends and family. He was a fun young man and it was wonderful to be able to go watch him act on stage. We know you will be missing him greatly, but we also know you will have great memories to cling to.
