Joseph (Joe) Beck, 83, Mayville, ND, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND. Joseph was born October 15, 1921 to John T. and Minnie (Olson) Beck in Rural Hatton, ND. He attended school in Rural Hatton. He entered the US Navy in 1942 and served in WWII. After returning from duty in 1945, he married Roma Dakken and lived in Mayville, ND. He worked for farmers in the Hatton, Mayville and Portland area while working for Moen Implement. He later owned and operated Beck Service Station from 1948-1990. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, hockey, wrestling, auction sales, woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He survived by his wife Roma; his sons, David Dakken, Mayville, ND and Rick (Joni) Beck, Edmond, OK, daughter, Debbie (Dean) Severson, Grand Forks, ND; 8 grandchildren, Rachel, Julia, Audrey, Emily, Michael, Mitchell and Aaron; brothers, Ernest (Darlene) Beck, Warren, MN, Carl (Darlene) Beck, Fargo, ND, Gilman (Betty) Beck, Northwood, ND; sisters, Clara Johnson, Northwood, ND, Nathalie (George) Brustad, Mayville, ND, Shirley Beck, Mayville, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Blanche Amundson, brothers, Marvin, Tilman, David, Thomas, John Jr. and Einar Beck. Funeral Service: Thursday, 11:00 a.m., March 17, 2005 at Bruflat, Portland, ND. Visitation: Wednesday, March 16, 2005 from 5-8:15 p.m. with a prayer service at 8:15 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND. Interment: Bruflat Cemetery, Portland, ND.
