Bradley, Joseph Liguori, 87, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024.
Beloved husband of Elizabeth J. Bradley (nee Cordes) for 52 years. Loving father of Brendan (Jen) Bradley, Catherine (Nathan) Merrick, Anne-Marie (Steve) Bradley. Doting grandfather to Zoe Anne Holdener. Devoted brother to Kathleen Bradley, Patricia (late Pat) Flynn, the late Mary (Declan) O'Kelly, and John (Mary) Bradley. Devoted brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many here in the United States and overseas in Ireland and England, especially to his Goddaughter Mary (Cahir) O'Connor and Joseph (Janet) Thorley.
Joe was born in Derry, Northern Ireland, to the late John and Adeline Bradley - the first Bradley son and grandson of the family. As a child, he loved learning and exploring, reading the encyclopaedia for fun and listening to the BBC radio overnight as he slept. He learned his strong work ethic delivering groceries by bicycle for his grandfather's grocery store and washing glasses for the family pub in Stanley's Walk, Derry.
Joe came to America in 1964 through serving in ministry, living in Kentucky, Florida, and eventually Detroit, Michigan. He started working for Maritz Travel Company and moved to St. Louis, where he met his love Elizabeth (Betty). They married in 1971 and had three children.
Joe's passion lay in travel and moreso, learning peoples' stories. He was the expert packer of suitcases and car trunks, spotter of hawks along any highway, and teller of extraordinary stories. Though a private person, he found connection with anyone he met, especially fond relationships in the travel industry. He served with zeal in every position at Maritz where he was a beloved colleague and friend to many. He especially loved building relationships with contacts all over the world and presenting programs to prospective clients. Joe loved tennis and golf, and was steadfast in his worship and faith. After retirement, he joined the St. Clare choir, where he was welcomed and embraced.
In his last chapter of life, Joe suffered from dementia and Alzheimer's disease, but never stopped reading aloud to his companions and telling stories about his hometown of Derry. His family and friends will miss him greatly.
The family would like to thank the many dear people for their support and care through Joe's illness with Alzheimer's and in these final quick days.
Services: Funeral Mass at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Ellisville, Monday April 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Interment private at Sunset Memorial Park, Affton. Visitation Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 2-6 p.m. at the Schrader Family Center, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory appreciated for St. Patrick's Center, 800 N. Tucker Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63101 or the Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri Chapter, alz.org. Friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

Although only recently hearing of Joe's (Father McKenzie) passing, I was saddened. Having had the great joy and privilege of travelling with Joe to Africa, many memories survive that adventure. Although working for a competitor, he was so open and welcoming I felt like we'd known each other a long time. Teasing back and forth as to who was or was not "lace-curtain" Irish was only a wee bit of our banter. His stories were legendary.

I will never forget Joe's smile and his hugs! When I was a young Global Sales person for Hyatt he welcomed me into the Maritz family as if it was his own. He always had a funny story to tell and never met a stranger. When I came to visit Maritz he always wanted to see how I was doing personally and made me feel so much a part of the team. What a bright light!

I worked with Joe in the late 80's/early 90's at Maritz Travel. Beyond his genuine interest in people and their stories, Joe's memory was striking. Suppliers would visit the campus and Joe could remember their name, when and where he had last seen them and often what they had eaten at a dinner many years earlier. While Alzheimer's is a terrible disease for anyone, it's particularly sad to think of Joe robbed of what many of us considered his superpower. I will miss this kind man and hope the rich stories of his life provide comfort to his family and friends at this time.

Although I didn’t have a lot of interaction with Mr. Bradley, the times I did were memorable as he was an extraordinary storyteller and gifted at making people feel welcome. Con and I are very sorry for your loss. Joe lived an amazing life. We will miss him in the world. Some of our most companionable times were with him and Betty. I remember going with Joe to a sales presentation. He was the destination expert. I don’t remember if we sold the business. I remember having one of the most meaningful, memorable conversations of my life with him on the plane. A caring and most magical man. So glad our paths crossed.

Joe was a wonderful friend and neighbor for many years. I enjoyed his smile, his sense of humor and colorful stories, especially of the homeland, Ireland. It was fun sharing meals and neighborly chats , enjoying him as he took a stroll, mowed the lawn, etc. He was greatly loved and he will be greatly missed. See you one day again Joe!
