Joseph S. Isbell, 85, of Terre Haute died Friday, April 25, 2008, in Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was involved in business administration and was formerly senior director of administration for Burger King Corporation and owner of Isbell Car Care. Joseph was born March 15, 1923, in Terre Haute, to William Livingston Isbell and Stella Houser Isbell.Survivors include his wife, Yolanda; son, Joseph A. Isbell of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Nikole Isbell, Natalie Isbell, and Anthony Isbell; brother, James Isbell and his wife Annette of Florida; nephews, Steve Isbell and his wife Donna of Terre Haute, Tim Isbell of Terre Haute, and Kenneth Isbell of Florida; and a special goddaughter, Rosemarie Sunderland of Miami. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, J. (Jody) Isbell; daughter, Amy Isbell; and several brothers and sisters.Joseph graduated from Valley High School. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a D-Day veteran. After returning, he attended Indiana State Teachers College, and graduated from Ball State University. Joseph was a member of Who’s Who Among Students in 1946. He and Yolanda enjoyed traveling, especially to Spain. Joseph was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation is scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. today in the church with a prayer service to take place at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.

I want to express my sympathy for your loss. Joe was my uncle, but living in California, I very rarely saw or talked to him. My Father, Robert "Red" Isbell was his brother. I still have a letter written to my Father by Joe in World War II.
