Rev. Joseph Jackson

Reverend Joseph Jackson "entered into eternal life" peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2022, at the age of 85. Son of the late George and Ethel Norman Jackson. Beloved husband of the late Verna Jackson for fifty-one years and loving Pastor of the Third Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, New Orleans, Louisiana. Loving father of Cassandra Walwendah (Eagleville, PA), Derwin and Bryant Jackson. Father-in-law of Amos Walwendah and Leatrice Jackson. Devoted grandfather of Kristin, Ashley, Dominique, Armani, Bryant Jackson, Kelvin Davis, and great-grandfather to Kylan and Kaci Johnson, and Zaiden Abdullah. Rev. Jackson was served faithfully in life by his children, Beverly J. Batiste, Delisha Jackson, Larry Jackson, Shelia Sutton, Carolyn White, congregants, and his devoted caregiver Denise Riggins. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Ruth Sutton, and Marian Joshua (Los Angeles, CA), and a sister-in-law Augustine (Deloris) Morris. He was preceded in death by sisters Ethel N. Tanner and Margaret Wyatt of Kansas City, Mo., Fannie Jackson, Ora L. Jackson, Elouise Keelen, and Delores Jackson; brothers-in-law Lawrence, Raymond, Joseph (Tim) Vance, and Anthony Donald Vance, sisters-in-law Dorothy Rosemore, Avar Anderson, and Geneva (Jane) Ashford, Alma Cushionberry, and a host of relatives and friends. He was the beloved Pastor of the Third Rose of Sharon Baptist Church where he ministered for 42 years, 2nd Vice President of the Ideal Missionary Baptist and Educational Association under the leadership of Dr. J. C. Profit, affiliated with The National Baptist Convention, U. S. A. Incorporated, Louisiana Missionary Baptist State Convention and various associations. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Third Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, Ideal Missionary Baptist and Educational Association, neighboring churches, and employees of Walmart Stores, Incorporated, the Jackson Kearney Group, Jeff's Haberdashery, Pfizer Incorporated and personnel of the United States Coast Guard are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Services on Saturday, March 12, 2022, for 10:00 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church, 2319 Third Street, New Orleans La. 70113. Dr. J.C. Dyson, Sr. officiating. Visitation at the church on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Remains will lie in State at the Third Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, 2132 Third Street, New Orleans La., on Friday, March 11, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Interment: Mt.
