I remember meeting Joe on the little league field when we were in high school. I think he was an umpire or coach. My sister and I gave him a nickname “legs” because he had the most beautiful legs a man could have. I never knew him well but he seemed like such a positive guy.
Another sad loss for this world.

I was Joe's neighbor for 13 years in Antioch and in that time we shared many good times. One fun time was when we went to JJ Blinkers with Neil, our other neighbor, to see Svengooli. Joe was a great guy and I am shocked and saddened to hear of his untimely passing. My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to his entire family especially Jane, the light of Joe's life. RIP

Kelly, Max, and William:
Our prayers and thoughts are with you on the loss of Joe. I know there are no words to take away the pain and loss you are feeling but know that we are with you today and always. And that Joe is up in heaven watching down on all of you, while sitting in the stands at Heaven's version of Comiseky. We are blessed that we got to know Joe through you Kelly and that the boys had a wonderful step dad like Joe come into their life's.
We are here for you if you need anything.
All of our love,
Bob, April, Jake and Adam

Very sad to hear about Joe, he always lit up the room with his cheerful spirit. He was a great person, and I wish I had gotten to know him better. May he be at peace now.

Dear Mikusa family, I am so sorry for the loss of Joe. I graduated with him from LZHS and from Illinois State. I knew him as a friendly, caring guy who had a great laugh and was someone you could count on. My husband, who also knew Joe from school, and I are praying for your family. Losing a loved one is so hard, especially when he still had so much life to live. May God fill you with His peace and wrap you in His love and hold you through this terrible loss.

It’s hard to find the words when someone leaves this world so suddenly and leaves behind a child, who will always have a hole in her heart, and parents who should never go through such unimaginable grief. Give my love to Calvin and Hobbes, all the kitties and your precious Belle. We had a great love once and from that, created a beautiful daughter who loves you very much. Godspeed and I hope you rest easy and in peace. I will watch over our baby girl for you

My condolences to the Mikusa family in this time of sorrow. Joe was one of my favorite memories of growing up in Lake Zurich. We had some funny observances in life as kids that would make us laugh even as adults, on the few occasions we were able to visit. Rest In Peace my friend! You were a class act, to be sure.
