Joseph Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 9, 2024.
Joseph Chad Reed of Tucson, Arizona, age 46, passed into eternal rest suddenly on the 6th of February 2024, doing what he loved: hiking. Born on the 2nd of April 1977, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Chad's life was characterized by his love and commitment to his family and friends.

Chad spent his childhood in Arkansas with many aunts and uncles that were like surrogate parents and his cousins who were like siblings. Returning to Arkansas for visits was always a special time with days and nights spent laughing and talking for hours with cousins and family. His Granny Zola was an important part of his life and he cherished every moment he had with her. Chad lived many places through the years, but Arkansas with family and in the mountains of Arizona were where he most loved to be.

A man of kindness and compassion, Joseph's spirit was marked by his love for adventure and his profound affection for his four-legged camping friend, Ridge. His passion for the natural world was evident; he spent countless happy hours hiking and camping, always eager to explore and appreciate the splendor of the Arizona desert.

Left to honor Joseph's memory are his loving husband of 20 years, Brian Jauch; his parents, Tresa and Douglas Reed; his sister, Jessica Reed from Seattle; and his brother, Jonathan Reed from Australia along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. Their lives are forever enriched by the time shared with Chad and the enduring love he bestowed upon them.

Joseph Chad Reed's legacy is one of warmth, adventure, and professional commitment. As his soul finds peace, those who knew him find comfort in recalling the echo of his bright smile along nature's trails and in the heart of anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be fondly remembered, never forgotten, and sorely missed.

Chad's favorite saying was the mountains are calling,...Ridge and I must go. Words cannot describe the void left in our hearts.

Chad, I miss you so much, my friend. Since you passed, things have changed here. You were the best boss I ever had. It's so heartbreaking to get to work and not see you there anymore. We all miss your laugh and jokes.

Babe, it's been two months since you left me. I still cry myself to sleep wishing you were coming home. I'm lost without you. Ridge will be with Jessica now. It breaks my heart, but I know he will help your family heal. If I could have one more hug, one more chance to remind you how much I love you.

I would like to share a story about Chads silly side.
One day Chad put a fake mouse in the register and I opened the register and this mouse popped right out at me! Chad was standing on the side waiting for me to open it and of course he was laughing hysterically. I shouted out "Joseph Reed I am calling your mom"!
We both couldn´t stop laughing!

Chad was such a prankster and I will never forget all the stories he shared of how he would prank his sister and others.

Chad always knew how to make me laugh and brighten my spirits whenever they were down.

Goodbye my best friend, until I see you again.

I have so many memories of Chad, but the one that stands out, the most was, he scared me with the fake mouse in the store. He love to scare me. He said he always did it to his sister, too. He was a big prankster. He was my best friend. I loved him so much we talked every day if not twice a day just goofing around checking on each other, I love you Chad I miss you terribly

I´ll never forget your goofy laugh Chad. You brought so many smiles to my face in the years we worked together. All of the early morning truck days and the jokes we used to play to make work more enjoyable. I give my love and condolences to your family and friends during this time.

I remember meeting Chad in high school at CDO (he was class of `95 and mine was the following year). He made our US/Az History class bearable since our teacher was basically as riveting as the adults from Charlie Brown cartoons. We lost touch for a bit until Facebook re-connected the majority of our "cool-kid" friend group. Our first phone call, Chad came out, letting me know he was gay. But then, I told him we all, already knew and his preferences didn´t matter. Knowing Chad back then was a great privilege and I am honored to have grown, worked and laughed with him through Tuesday Morning experiences and personal life lessons as well. My middle daughter absolutely looked up to him ("He actually made cigarettes smell GOOD mom.") and will forever remember him just as fondly as I do. We are very grateful to have spent the time we did with Chad. Of course, we are deeply saddened it was all cut so unexpectedly short. The memory of his smile and laughter will keep him alive in our hearts forever.

I never met Joseph "Chad" but I now feel a connection to him. I believe we have commonalities. I live at the base of Picacho Peak and was awakened the morning of Feb 07, 2024 to the sound of the Pinal County Sheriff dept. helicopter circling the Mountain. I was saddened to learn it was a search for Chad. The weather was not optimal that morning but the search continued until found. The next morning the helicopter and search crew returned too lift Chad out. As I watched tears were in my eyes, thinking of Chad´s love for the outdoors and the family and friends left behind. Every morning the first thing I do is stand on our porch and say good morning to the Mountain, now every morning my thoughts will forever be about Chad, thinking about what his life was like and those left behind.

My deepest condolences to Brian, family, and Loved one´s.

The Mountain, morning of Feb 10, 2024 from our porch, weather very similar to that of the 07 Feb.

Dearest Chad,
That smile, and that laugh that always lit up the room! That giant, kind heart and soul. That wicked sense of humor. You´re love for the outdoors, and your puppies. And your fierce love for your family and friends will never be forgotten! I miss you terribly already, but am comforted knowing you are in a much better place, and having a giant party with your grannies! Until we meet again.

I am so humbled to have known Chad. Always a smile, always a laugh, even when he was ng at himself! Such a HUGE humanitarian, would do anything for anyone in need. May God enjoy that bright smile, that contagious laugh and to the many four legged creatures he encounters in heaven, a true friend! I can just see him now, just being overrun with hundreds of dogs licking and frolicking over the meadows of heaven. Until we meet again dear friend, thank you for your unconditional love and support.
