Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 1 to Dec. 2, 2005.
Josephine Artim Josephine Artim, age 95, was called by the Lord on November 29, 2005 uniting her with her loving husband of 73 years, R. Ralph, who passed on May 11, 2003. Josephine was born to Stephen and Josephine Yonker in Muskegon, MI on August 10, 1910. She was the 2nd youngest of eight children. She was raised by her older sister, Nettie, from the age of 10, after her mother's passing. As a young woman, she came to visit family in Hessville and met R. Ralph Artim and it was love at first sight. They were later married on June 4, 1930. This union brought three children into the family. She became a devoted wife, mother and caregiver of her husband's parents: Joseph and Pearl, with whom they made their home and raising her brother-in-law, G. Richard, along with her own children. Josephine was the matriarch of the Artim family, being supportive to her husband and father-in-law in the J. Artim & Sons Trucking Co., which later became Artim Transportation System Inc. Josephine is survived by her children: Phyllis (Paul) Beckman of Munster, Alice (Jack) McMahon of Highland, Bud (Julie) Artim of Lowell; eight grandchildren: Alice Beckman of White Bear Lake, MN, Paul (Karen) Beckman of New Zealand, Mary (Mike) Konstant of LaGrange, IL, Bill Beckman of Washington, D.C., Brian McMahon of Hammond, Mike (Karen) Artim of Crown Point, Joe Artim of Duluth, MN, Pete Artim of Chicago and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother-in-law, G. Richard (Helen) Artim of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, R. Ralph; her parents and in-laws; six brothers; devoted sister and sister-in-law, Mabel Yonker. Josephine will be sadly missed by family, friends and all who knew her. A celebration of Josephine's life will be held on Friday, December 2, 2005 at the Virgil Huber Funeral Home at 171st and Kennedy Ave., Hessville, IN from 3 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Orchard Dr. and Arizona, following with a Christian burial at Elmwood Cemetery, 169th and Southeastern, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to go directly to the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Share Foundation, Hospice of the Calumet Area or the charity of your choice.

Dear Artim family...I am the granddaughter of Jeanette "Nettie" DeNio and I just heard that Aunt Jose has departed this earth. I have many memories of her visits to Muskegon and phone calls to my grandmother. After my grandmother died, Aunt Jose sent me a lovely painting that she had given to my grandmother. My deepest sympathy to your family. With sympathy...Diane DeNio

Dear Phyllis, Paul and all your family....My memories could fill a small page...how many times I look at lake Michigan and think of it as Grandma Josie's big bathy!

To all the Artims;

My deepest sympathies go out to all of you during this sad time.

I did not learn of Mrs. Artims's passing until Saturday or I would have stopped in to offer my condolences in person. I know how much my mother enjoyed visiting with your mother at church and how fond they were of each other. I'm

sure that she will be deeply missed by your whole family. I will remember all of you in my prayers.
