Joshua Jones Obituary
He was born in Charlotte, son of Robert Jones of Gastonia and Colleen and Mack Armstrong of Dallas, and was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Vertie Richard and Robert and Ellen Jones.
He was employed with GW Erectors, graduated from the Stanley Christian Academy as valedictorian in 1999, was a referee with Stanley Recreation and First Presbyterian Church basketball programs, and volunteered with local schools in the community. He was a devoted Carolina Tar Heel fan, was a member of Community Pentecostal Center in Stanley, where he had perfect Sunday school attendance for 18 years and assisted in the sports ministry, and was the church 3-point basketball champion. He was a drummer with the Christian band "Higher Calling."
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife Landon Nicole Jones; a daughter, Jaylin Rylee Jones of the home, stepsiblings Scott and Stephanie Armstrong, David and Lisa Armstrong; an aunt, Susan Braddy; a cousin, Gerald Goodspeed; and nieces and nephews, Richie Ashe, Patrick, Kayla, Logan, Cheyenne and Lucas Armstrong.
Funeral service, conducted by the Reverends Eddie McGinnis and Chad Parker, will be 5 p.m. Sunday at Community Pentecostal Center in Stanley. The family will receive friends at the church from 2- 5 p.m. Sunday, and other times at the home of Colleen and Mack Armstrong, 129 Chippawa Drive, Dallas.

Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is in charge of arrangements.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I don't know you, but I was googling my husband's obituary (his name was Joshua Jeremy Jones) he recently passed away in 1/11 and I came across this. Our stories seem very simular. My husband was 30 yrs old and he has left my 3 yr old daughter and my 2 year old son behind. If there is anything I can do, or if you need to talk. I am here. Joshua seemed to be as loved as my husband was, I can tell he will be truly missed. Again, so sorry for you loss.

Josh was such a special person. He really loved all children. I feel like Josh was a part of our family as he really was for a long time. I remember how Josh loved Colby. I can't believe he is gone now. It leaves a reminder to always let those you love know that you love them. Never let a day pass if you can help it to show someone you care. Josh will always be missed.

Josh, I miss you so much. There is such a big void in my life now. I wonder every single day if there was anything I could have done to keep this from happening, and whatever it would have been...I would have done it...no questions asked. I wouldn't have thought twice about even taking your place, just so you could live and raise your beautiful daughter with Landon. But they say things happen for a reason...just wish I knew what the reason was...oh how I wish I knew...because this hurts so bad! I love you Josh.

I am so sorry to hear about Joshua's death. It has come as a shock when I heard it at church today. I lived infront of him on Main Street for 5 years and learned to like him very much then I met his wife. I knew him as a very friendly and helpful young man. I will miss him even though I only knew him for 5 short years. My prayers are with his family.
