JOYCE E. MAYNARD Joyce E. Maynard passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31st, 2023, in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was surrounded by loved ones. Joyce was born in Underwood, North Dakota, on November 4th, 1928, to Owen and Jeanette (Paulsen) Shively. In August, 1951, she married Jon Maynard. Together they had two children, Scott and Susan. Joyce was a long time resident of Dodge City, Kansas. She was very active in her community. For many years she was the assistant director at the Dodge City Recreation Center helping to expand sports and activities for adults and youth and could often be seen driving around town in her little orange pickup. Joyce was a devoted animal lover and took in countless stray dogs and cats throughout her entire life. She enjoyed traveling, skiing, hiking, watching sports, Jeopardy, gardening, chocolate and taking care of her family. She lived life to the fullest, was very much loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Scott (former daughter-in-law, Debbie) of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Susan (Dick) Wolfe, of Windsor, Colorado; and bonus son, Bill (Coni, Lane and Jon Paul) Jones of Lott, Texas. Her 5 beautiful granddaughters: Amanda, Mamie, Hailey, Marianne and Lisa and 5 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Emma, Katie, Lauren and Ava. A celebration of life will take place in Bozeman, Montana, at a later date.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. Joyce was an amazing woman and a caring, and loving boss. I often think of the moments we cherished at the DC Recreation center together.

Joyce will always hold a special place in my heart. I enjoyed all of the time I got to know her and spend with her and will cherish those memories of her. Love and prayers to you all in this difficult time.

Thinking of you both. It’s been a long time since Joyce was in her Dodge City home, but I am sure many people hold her memory dear. Rick always had high regard for her and your dad.

My sympathy to Scott and Susan. Joyce was a Brownie Scout leader for my scout group when I was very young. She also gave me my first ginger tabby kitten which was a very important part of my life. Joyce was always so kind and would speak to me when I was so young. I am sure she will be very missed by her family and friends
