Joyce Althea Lybrand Parrish BATESBURG - Joyce Althea Lybrand Parrish, 85, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. Justin Eshleman officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 3:00 p.m. before the service at the church, other times at the home of her granddaughter, Chancie Frick. Pallbearers will be Todd Frick, Paul Shuler, Tim Murphy, Travis Parrish, Bryan Parrish and David Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews. Mrs. Parrish was born in Johnston, SC, daughter of the late Leon Frontis and Marie Scott Lybrand. Mrs. Parrish was married to the late Walter Harold Parrish. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she was a member of the WMU and the Ladies Number One Sunday School Class. She was an honor graduate of Ridge Spring High School, a member of the Ridge Spring High School BETA Club and a proud member of the Ridge Spring High School basketball team. Mrs. Parrish loved cooking. She worked at Graniteville Mills, Burlington Mills, Asbill Catering and retired from Batesburg-Leesville High School cafeteria where everyone called her Grandma. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Allen (Sharon) Parrish; daughter, Cathy Parrish McGill; daughter-in-law, Jan Parrish; grandchildren, Candace (Tim) Murphy, Bryan (Krista) Parrish, Allison (David) Davis, Brandon and Tommy Schaefer, Travis (Samantha) Parrish, Chancie (Todd) Frick; great-grandchildren, Lauryn (Paul) Shuler, Abby Murphy, Tyler and Annie Parrish, Gavin Parrish, Libby and Samantha Davis, Mikkal and Christian Davis, Hailey McCullar, Sarah Reale, Brent (Adrianna) McCullar, Brad (Dodie) McCullar, Skyler Frick; one great great grandson, Myles Shuler; and one unborn great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, and sisters, Annie Louis Asbill and Margie Deese Lewis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 607 South Bethlehem Road, Leesville, SC 29070. Condolences may be expressed at miltonshealy.com.
