Joyce Westkaemper Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2008.
Joyce Eloise Brown Westkaemper, of Austin and Kerrville, died January 29 at age 83. Born in San Antonio and raised near Lockhill, her adult life was spent largely in Austin and the Texas hill country. She was predeceased by her parents, Alta and Glenn Meadows and James Brown, and her two brothers, Glenn and Travis Meadows. Survivors include her husband John Westkaemper, daughters Sarah Lake and Lisa Westkaemper and husband Alva Hascall, and grandson Andrew Lake, in addition to numerous and cherished in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews, members of the Hill family whose traditions and heritage were her mainstay. Joyce was artistic, and showed her gifts in meticulous painting, flower arranging, needlepoint design, and knitting. Gregarious and generous, she had lovely, loyal friends, and was the inspiration of extraordinary devotion from her caring husband of 60 years. Most at home in Yazoo City, Mississippi, and the hill country, she was laid to rest in the Center Point Cemetery with a service by the Reverend Thomas H. Murray III on February 4, 2008. May she have eternal peace.

Thank you Joyce for your many kindnesses over the years. I will always treasure the beautiful fisherman's sweater that you knitted for me.
