Maryville - Julia Rose Kennedy McLaurin, affectionately known as Judy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her cherished family during her final moments. Born on December 19, 1951, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Judy was the third child of William and Pauline (Barbour) Kennedy. From a young age, she embraced her faith and was baptized into the Christian faith. Her unwavering love for Jesus was evident in her selfless acts of service and nurturing care for others and all of God's creatures.

Judy's love story with her soulmate, Jesse Ronald McLaurin, was truly remarkable. Their bond endured for nearly 54 years until his passing in March 2024. Despite not having children of their own, they showered their love, support, and encouragement on their seven nieces and nephews. Their affection extended to their numerous great nephews and nieces, making them known as the "Fun Aunt and Uncle" who brought immense joy and happiness to everyone they met.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by two brothers, Ron Kennedy (Reba) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Don Kennedy (Edith) of Maryville, Tennessee. Brother-in-law Mike McLaurin, and sister-in-law Linda (Paul) Combs, and Mary Ann (Tammy) Cannon. Nephew Connor Cannon. Nephew Michael (Jenn) Kennedy, and children Keira, Landon, and Lola; Nephew David (Ani) Kennedy, and children Tyler and Samia. Niece Raquel (Will) Roy, and children Carson, Paxton, Jada, and Dani. Niece Melody (Sante) Harrah and their son Camden. Niece Cherie Combs (Rob) Mercer and children Cole and Mallory. Niece Amy Combs (Shannon) Powell and daughter Hailey.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2026, at Smith Life and Legacy, located at 1402 Tuckaleechee Pike in Maryville, Tennessee. The reception of friends will commence from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by the Celebration.
