Karen Patch

Mrs. Karen Marie (Gwozdz) Patch, 40, of 93 Wilshire Drive, Cheshire, died on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in Pittsfield on October 19, 1973, a daughter of Edward and Margaret "Mal" (Lyons) Gwozdz. She attended schools in Cheshire and graduated from Hoosac Valley High School in 1992. She then went on to attend Fitchburg State College and received her degree in nursing as a Registered Nurse from Berkshire Community College. At the time of her death, Karen was employed as the Assistant Director of Nurses at Craneville Place Nursing Home, Dalton. Earlier she had worked at Hillcrest Commons Nursing Home, Pittsfield. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire. Besides her parents of Cheshire, she is survived by her son, Kyle Patch of Cheshire and New Lebanon, NY and his father Trevor Patch of New Lebanon; 1 Sister – Kerry McMahon and her husband Sean of Cheshire; 1 Brother – Christopher Gwozdz and his wife Holly of Byfield, MA; 3 Aunts – Christine Barbarotta and her husband Pepi, Kathy Harter and Barbara Insero and her husband Thomas; 1 Uncle – Francis Gwozdz and his wife Dorothy; 2 Nieces – Cailin and Cassidy McMahon; 2 Nephews – Henry and Benjamin Gwozdz; 5 Cousins, Mark Gwozdz and his wife Liz, Lisa Gwozdz, Kelly and Nicole Barbarotta and Katie Harter and by a very close family friend, Andy Kachel She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Matthew and Ann Lyons, by her paternal grandparents, Frank and Stella Gwozdz and by her Aunt Margie Gwozdz. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 15 at 10:00AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial donations be made to the Kyle Patch Education Fund through the funeral home.
