Kathleen McDermott, 100, died on April 15, 2024. Born as the only daughter of four children to Mary and Thomas Reynolds in San Francisco in 1923, she had a long and adventurous life surrounded by a wide repertoire of friends and family she loved and who loved her. She joined the WAVES during WWII, serving in the office of Cable Censorship in Los Angeles. After the war, she worked as dormitory supervisor for the Dependent Schools Detachment in Strasbourg, France. She then attended Stanford University on the GI Bill, majoring in history. She went on to teach high school history at Westmoor in Daly City until she married Leo McDermott at the Presidio in 1961. They lived in Honolulu, Hawaii until 1979 when Leo died and Kathy returned to the Bay Area to be near her family. She was an optimistic person of great faith. She is survived by her daughter Rose McDermott.
