Kathleen M. Quane, 86, of Naperville, Ill., formerly of Rock Island and Moline, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at Alden Naperville Rehab and Healthcare Center. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 28, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a Christian Wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the National Audubon Society.
Kathleen was born August 21, 1919, in Rock Island, the daughter of the Honorable Judge Joseph Patrick and Norine Mul Brandon Kelly. She married Lawrence A. Quane on September 10, 1946, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1989.
Kathleen was witty, an avid reader, independent minded, fond of her Irish heritage, loved nature and was an ardent democrat. She attended Mundelein College, Chicago, and for many years worked as the front desk manager for the Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Rock Island.
Survivors include four daughters and spouses, Eileen (Randall) Donnelly, of Moline, Noreen (Michael) Schelstrate, of Post Falls, Idaho, Molly (John Jr.) Lambe, of Conway, Ark., and Patricia (Donald Jr.) McGarr, of Tinley Park, Ill.; three sons and spouse, Michael Quane, of Naperville, Dennis Quane, of Aurora, Ill., and Robert (Deb Donley) Quane, of Skokie, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister and spouse, Ann (Dr. William) Macomber, of St. Clouds, Minn.; and brother, Joseph P. Kelly, of Moline.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence, son, Terrence Quane, and sister, Ellen Kennedy.
