Kathlyn Leucht- Angsten

Kathlyn "Kathie" Leucht-Angsten, 87, lifelong resident of St. Joseph, passed away Feb. 14, 2009, at a Kansas City, Mo., health care center.
Born April 30, 1921, in St. Joseph, she obtained her B.S. in education and Master's degree in education from Northwest Missouri State University. She began teaching in a one room schoolhouse, which included grades 1-8. She then taught elementary school at McKinley, Everett and Hall Schools for the St. Joseph School District. She retired from teaching after 37 years of service.
Kathie was an avid antique collector. She collected, displayed, and sold antiques in many antique shows and malls.
She was twice appointed Worthy Matron of the Radiant Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 88. She was a member of Joseph Robidoux Chapter Questers, Ideal Study Club, Missouri State Teachers Association and Copeland Baptist Church.
Kathie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Paralee Leucht; her husband, John Angsten; her brother Billy Leucht; and nephew, Jim Leucht.
She is survived by her sister, Jo Louise Jefferies; her brother Tom and his wife Jan Leucht; six nieces; a nephew; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Service: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Private Family Committal at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.
Visitation: Will begin after 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7p.m.
