Kathy McNew, 53, of Coloma, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Fr. Donald Wieber officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., with the Rosary beginning at 5:00 P.M., on Friday, May 12, 2006, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Berrien Community Foundation for breast cancer research. Friends may send the family a condolence message or sign the guest book on-line at www.starks-menchinger.com. Kathy was born on May 7, 1953, in Midlothian, IL, to Walter and Katherine (Venerable) Roung. She graduated from Coloma High School in 1971. Kathy married Larry McNew on January 28, 1972 in Coloma and they were married for 34 years. Kathy worked for Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph as a secretary in the EVS department. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Kathy will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We've lost a wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend but heaven has gained an angel. Kathy is survived by her husband, Larry of Coloma; father, Walter of Coloma; children, Brandy (Mike) Zoschke of Benton Harbor, Courtney McNew and her fiancé Charles Smalley of Watervliet and Tyler McNew and his fiancé Jessie Smith of Watervliet; grandchildren, Ryan McNew of Watervliet, Alex Zoschke of Benton Harbor, Gavin McNew of Watervliet, and Rachael Zwar of Coloma; sister, Vicky Forrester of Watervliet; nieces, Nichole Forrester of Coloma and Megan Forrester of Stevensville, and great nephew Riley Carter of Watervliet. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother Katherine on May 16, 2005.
