Kenneth Buyers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 8, 2025.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved son, Kenneth Gregory Buyers (Ken), who died peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 39. Ken was born on August 25, 1985, in Clearwater, Florida, to Edward and Terry Buyers. He grew up in the Seminole and St. Petersburg area. Even as a young boy, he possessed a quick wit and the comedic timing of an adult-often prompting roars of laughter around the dinner table. His laughter was contagious, adding to his unmistakable charm.

Ken was a true patriot who deeply loved his family and country. He enlisted in the U.S. Army directly after graduating from Seminole High School. Over 14 years of service, he rose to the rank of Sergeant and received several distinctions recognizing his accomplishments and dedication. Ken completed two tours in Iraq, a tour in South Korea, and served as a successful hometown Army recruiter in Illinois. He was later stationed at Fort Bragg and Fort Belvoir, spending several years in the Washington, D.C., area.

After separating from the Army, Ken continued his career in cyber security. Leveraging his extensive knowledge and skills, he took great pride in his work and approached each mission with professionalism and discretion. He found deep satisfaction in protecting others through his efforts. Ken tackled each challenge with the same determination he had as a kid trying to beat his latest video game-punctuated by his favorite phrases: "Game on!" and "Challenge accepted!" He remained in the cyber security field until his passing.

While stationed in Illinois, Ken met and married the love of his life, Diana. A few years later, they welcomed their cherished daughter, Grace.

Eighteen months ago, Ken relocated to the Ocala area to be closer to his parents. We are grateful for the blessing of this quality time spent with him.

Ken valued his friendships from every stage of life-school, military, and work. He enjoyed simple pleasures like fishing, shooting hoops and playing video games with his daughter, watching movies or history documentaries, and backyard plinking. He was a friend to all animals and showed compassion to anyone in need. Ken will be deeply missed, but his spirit, laughter, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Ken is survived by his wife, Diana Buyers; his daughter, Grace; his parents, Edward and Terry Buyers; his sister, Christina (Christi) Panek; brother-in-law, Timothy (Tim) Panek; nephews Joshua, Matthew, and David; and niece Abigail.

A private service will be held for close family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kenneth's memory to a charity of your choice.

I had the opportunity to serve with Ken while in the Army. He was my Team Lead during our deployment to Iraq in 2009 while at CSC Scania. He had a terrifically goofy and sometime spontaneous personality that really brought some humor during our time there. As a leader you could tell that he cared and really looked out for our team. I remember most days when he was coming back from the gym, he would poke his head into mine and my roommate´s room grinning asking if I had any Gatorade protein shakes and Pomegranate Rip-Its. We had the only mini fridge in the living area for our group, and I was the one who would do the Class 1 pickups for rations and those were always his requests. During work when we had down time we´d hang out and watch whatever movies that we picked up that week from the Iraqis in the makeshift market they had on the base, and a lot of evenings where he and a few of us would play World in Conflict together. We stayed in contact off and on since but had not spoken in a while. I am very sorry to hear that he passed away. Ken was always so kindhearted and caring when we served together and the world is lesser with him gone. Til Valhalla Brother.

I never had the honor of meeting this young man but he sounds like he was a fine human being. I rejoice that he enriched his parents lives. I will pray for comfort, healing and strength as his family journeys on. God bless you all.

What a stirring tribute to your remarkable son! Ken's life was so full that his spirit and legacy will indeed be eternal!
Our hearts go out to you Terry and Ed....I see you both in Ken's eyes and smile and his passion for life, friends and family. May your sorrow be filled with the sweetness that comes from knowing that there is a paradise and that Ken is living in your hearts and souls now. We are here for you...in any need big or small and in the joy of our friendship! Much Love,

The morning this photo was taken, we were taking Grace to soccer and my handsome guy was getting me coffee. Ken really was an amazing, talented man. Grace gets all of her sports talents from Ken. There was so much joy in the moments Grace had with her dad playing basketball, soccer, throwing the football, playing with the puppies, teaching her to play War Zone, and showing patience. His love for family was unconditional. Ken was always protective of his family even during video game playing. His kindness and compassion made my heart flutter. Ken always made me feel as tho I was the most beautiful woman in the room. I am forever honored to be the wife of such an amazing man. I will see you again my love. Until then, I will hold you close to my heart and keep your memory with us in all we do. I love you Ken Buyers.
