Kenneth Switzer Sr.

Kenneth Alton Switzer, Sr. December 28, 2022 Kenneth Alton Switzer, Sr., 84, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Born on December 16, 1938, in New York, he was the son of the late Alton and Annabelle June (Hudson) Switzer, and was also preceded in death by his brothers, David and Lloyd Switzer. After 21 years of dedicated service to his country, Kenneth retired as Master Sergeant from the United States Army, having served two tours in Vietnam. He then went on to work as a supervisor for a defense contractor, retiring after more than 20 years of service. Kenneth was a member of the VFW Post 2239, American Legion Post 284, and Lee Lepus Volksverband Walking Club, and a was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts for two years. He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Mary Lynne Switzer; son, Kenneth A. Switzer, Jr. and wife, Doris; daughter, Maria Ann Puccio and husband, Greg; three grandchildren, Paul Switzer, Heather Switzer, Nicholas Puccio; brother, James Switzer and wife, Kay; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Virginia Veteran's Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia Court House, VA 23002. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to James River Hospice Foundation, 9100 Arboretum Parkway, Suite 290 Richmond, VA 23236.
