LOWELL - Kevin M. Dunlavey, age 69 a longtime resident of Lowell passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Spaulding Rehab in Cambridge following a long, courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was the beloved husband of Gail A. (Lemire) Dunlavey, with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage in November. He was born in Lowell on May 2, 1952, and was a son of Mildred (Cohen) Dunlavey of Virginia Beach, VA and the late James E. Dunlavey, Sr.. He received his education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1970. Prior to his retirement, Kevin was employed for many years as a group leader and forklift operator by the former Lightolier in Wilmington. Earlier in his career he was employed by Honeywell, Courier Citizen, and as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of IBEW Local Union 1499. He enjoyed vacationing with family at the beach, especially Myrtle Beach, SC, Hampton Beach, and Salisbury Beach and watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and camping. In addition to his wife and mother, Kevin is survived by his two daughters, Meghan Dunlavey and her companion Raymond Matos of Haverhill and Kaitlin Dunlavey and her fiancé Michael Connell of Dracut; a step-son, Charles Schaefer of Lowell; a step-daughter, Amy Genao and her husband Eddy of Haverhill; nine grandchildren, Noah, Brooklynn, Micah, Jaxon, Jamison, Dublynn, Natalie, Celina, and Emilee; two sisters, Maureen Miles and her husband Ken of Virginia Beach, VA and Patty Herman and her husband Paul of Hudson, NH; two sisters-in-law, Laura Dunlavey of Dracut and Linda Walters and her husband Dave of Canutillo, TX; a brother-in-law, Raymond Lemire and his partner Jody Yates of Lowell. He was also the brother of the late James Dunlavey, Jr. and the late Michael Dunlavey. The family would like to thank the staff of Spaulding Rehab in Cambridge for their care and compassion during his stay with them. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Kevin's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Wednesday from 9:00 until 11:00am followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell. Masks are required at all services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kevin's memory to Spaulding Hospital Cambridge, C/O Development Office, 300 1st Ave., Charlestown, MA 02129. Please make check payable to Spaulding Hospital Cambridge.
