It is with deepest sympathy that I write to all of the O'Rouke family. I do not live in Vineland and just heard of Kevin's passing. I know the pain you are feeling as we lost my brother Michael two months ago. That is when I got to see Ernie.
Time and distance can not shatter the wonderful memories I have of your family and the old neighborhood. Kevin, as well as your mom and dad, and most importantly, Marilyn, played such an important role in my life. All those years of playing school influenced my career and I am still teaching. Kevin was an inspiration to me and I thought about him so many times as I worked with children with learning disabilities.I remember Kevin as being happy, thoughtful and loving. I often asked my mom about your mom and Kevin over the years.
I will pray for all of you at this difficult time and send love from the Nealis Family. Marilyn, I hope you are well.
Sincerely,
Pattie Nealis Pustizzi

Kevin's passing closes the chapter on the old neighborhood. He now joins all of the others in the new "heavenly" one. As a part of my child and adulthood, I will remember Kevin fondly for his humor, his thoughtfulness, and his friendship. God bless him and the entire O'Rourke family.

Reading of Kevin's passing hit me hard and brought back such a flood of memories--his excitement over showing me a new toy or sharing an event or milestone, his fastidiousness and thoroughness in matters such as taking in my garbage cans, and--every bit as important--the pride shown by you--his family and other friends--in his growth and achievements. That had so much to do with extending his life and potential and making him a model for others with developmental disabilities. Even though I have not been a neighbor for the past 11 or 12 years, my heart still belongs there and Kevin will be surely missed. May he rest in peace and his memory be a blessing.
