SCHENEVUS _ Kevin R. Stabler, 54, of Schenevus, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, after a short courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Aug. 12, 1955, in Rome, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Babylea) Stabler.
Kevin was married to Mary (Holmgren.)
He was a lineman and most recently vice president of Communication Specialists, Inc. He was a member of the NRA and the Cabl Bar.
He enjoyed hunting, the mountains, going to the beach, Clint Eastwood and Western movies, Frank Sinatra, Alan Jackson, and the Allman Brothers, most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Schenevus; his children, Cole and Hayley Stabler of Maryland; his siblings, George and Alice Stabler of Long Island, Dr. Marlana and Paul Fuller of Rome, Eleanor and Ted Altman of Chappaqua, Bob Stabler of Binghamton, Ken and Theresa Stabler of Mount Vision, Patrick Stabler of Amsterdam and Terry Stabler (United States Navy) stationed in Bath, Maine; the mother of his children, Karen and Larry Krom; his mother-in-law, Ruth F. Holmgren, of Warren, Mass., and the Holmgren family, and many close friends.
Family will receive friends at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009. A celebration of his life will be held immediately following at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790 or to The ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Association, Development Department, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.

We are so sorry for your loss. Trust in God and hold on tight to each other. Know that it's okay to cry. You have friends...talk to them, let them help.

In time, the fond memories you have of times spent with your Dad will bring comfort and even a smile on what seems like the darkest day. Hold on tight to those memories.
