Kimberly Hicks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 9, 2022.
Kimberly Lewis Hicks

The morning of October 29, 2022, Kimberly Annabel (Lewis) Hicks, King George native and Fredericksburg resident, transitioned into the Lord's hands at the young age of 53, after a six year faith journey with metastatic melanoma. "Kim" was born in September 1969, and was the first and only child of Walter T. Lewis (deceased) and Judith T. Lewis.

Kim is survived by her mother, Judy (77); daughter Ebonie Taylor Hicks (25); two sons, Christopher Lee Hicks Jr. (21) and Colby Jordan Hicks (20); adopted daughter, Angelic Jones (30); and her adopted grandchildren, Amirrah-Gabriella (10), Sa'Niyah-Isabella (6), and Davina-Michella (0).

Kimberly or "Ms. Kim", as many referred to her, accomplished countless milestones academically, relationally, and spiritually. An alumna of King George High School (Class of 1987), she went on to graduate Longwood College in 1992 with her Bachelors in Spanish and later accomplished three Master's degrees in Project Management, Business Administration , and Marketing.

She became an independent business owner in 2015 within the URA Association and was an integral member of Kensington Vanguard since 2014. She was a senior processor, licensed title agent, and notary public. Kim's contributions and consistent willingness to build a reputation of excellence, was a tremendous asset.

As a single mother, working multiple jobs came with new opportunities to reach the next generation. Kimberly often took on any volunteer work she could find to support her children's athletic teams, and even went so far as to substitute teach for a time. Not only did Kimberly provide unconditional love to every student she taught at North Stafford, but she also enriched the lives of young teens as a youth group leader for over 15 years at Ebenezer UMC. Her faith in God was evident in her compassion to anyone who needed help, a mentor, or even just a smile. She became a mother to many more people than just her three children, but they were also her world. She was the loudest cheerleader/referee at every football game for Christopher and Colby, and the most supportive fan at Ebonie's volleyball games and tournaments.

The mother that many prayed for and never knew they needed- that was the person that Kimberly came to be. Her willingness to stand up for the truth, see the greatness in everyone, and bring laughter to every soul that crossed her path was the defining character that will never be forgotten by the countless individuals that knew her.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Ebenezer UMC in Stafford, Virginia. Service starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, Novermber 19, 2022, lunch will follow- everyone who loved Kimberly is welcome to attend.

I went all the way through school with Kim. She was always bright and tenacious. I remember in fifth grade when she decided to change her name to Courtney for awhile! It is such a blessing to see how well she used her 53 years! I pray for her friends and family who are experiencing such great loss. May you be comforted by sweet memories and the rich legacy she leaves until we who are in Christ are reunited again.

Kim is beautiful - we worked professionally and I was always immediately "raised up" by her smile! More than pleasant she was always present! Listening and contribution were highly at the forefront! Her service to others were deep and at many different levels! She is a winner and always my friend.

It seems like just yesterday, we graduated high school. In reality it's been 35 years! None of your accomplishments came as a surprise to me, nor did the compliments in regards to the person you were. I remember you as a kind friend to all. May God bring comfort to your family during this difficult time.
