KINDLE DAVIS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2013.
Kindle "Bud" Davis died February 23, 2013 after a series of illnesses. He was born October 25, 1926, in Cotton Springs Community, Tishimingo County, Mississippi to Jessie Maulden Davis and Hubert Roscoe Davis. He has an identical twin brother, Windle "Buster" Davis, still living, now of Fulton, MS. He is survived by one son, Gary Kindle; a grandson and family, Andrea and Chris Blaylock, Kendall Joy and Sienna Rose; one sister, Faye Davis Mock (Arlis). He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Joy Brown Davis; his daughter and biggest fan, Anita Devon Davis Blaylock; brothers, Roy, Travis, Hollis, and Floyd; and sister, Bertie Davis Brown. Mr. Davis was a respected businessman and 51 year car dealer. During his last 37 years at Bud Davis Cadillac, the dealership won many awards, including 27 years as "Master Dealer" and 7 years as "Top 100 General Motors Dealers," one of its highest awards. He started his career coaching high school basketball in Tishimingo and Kossuth, Mississippi. His last two teams at Itawamba Community College won Mississippi junior college championships. This team was named the Itawamba Community College "Team of the Century" in 2000. Mr. Davis was a "leader of men" and prided himself on his love of family and friends. His customers were the #1 priority in his working life. He was devoted to his faith and to White Station Church of Christ. Always active in the communities where he lived, he was named "businessman of the year" in several communities. Charities were a huge part of his life with his latest favorites being Itawamba Community College and the Porter-Leath Children's Charities in Memphis. At his fundraiser for Porter-Leath, he loved interacting with the children and offering his "lessons for life." A lifetime joy was playing golf with his buddies. The family will receive friends Monday evening, February 25, at the Davis Event Center on the ICC campus in Fulton, MS from 5-7 p.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 26, from 4 p.m. until the service at 6 p.m. at White Station Church of Christ. A private service for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, in the Rotunda at Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to White Station Church of Christ, 1106 Colonial Rd., Memphis, TN 38117, 901-761-2007 or Porter-Leath Children's Charities at 868 North Manassas St., Memphis, TN 38107, 901-577-2500. Gary and all the Davis Family,
I only knew Gary from Bud Davis Cadillac & Cadillac of Memphis. I had gotten to know Bud pretty well over all the years that I leased & bought cars from his establishment. My mother had graduated from high school with him & Buster at Belmont, MS. When I introduced myself to him in the '80's and told him who my mother was, he was like we were best friends. He would always sit and talk to you like you were his friend and not just a customer. He left a world for a much better place. Praying for all of you through this difficult time in your lives. He will be missed!

To: The family of the late KINDLE "BUD" DAVIS ...
The name KINDLE suggests a spirit of kindness, gentleness, brotherly love or kindred in spirit .... The measure of a man is not and will never be what he says .. but what he does! Mr. Davis will forever be remembered by being a "doer" of good .. being honest and upright .. above board .. a leader and executor .. Your LOVED ONE is and will always be MY FRIEND! GOD FOREVER BLESD YOU and KEEP YOU!

Gary and Chris, I am sadden to hear about Mr. Davis' passing. During the years that I worked at Bud Davis Cadillac, I got to know Mr. Davis and really appreciated and enjoyed working for him. He was always pleasant to work with and for, and sometimes told jokes that made me laugh. Gary, Chris and family, I know that you will miss him, as we all will, but remember the legacy he left and always make him proud. My prayers, concern, and thoughts are with you today and in the coming days. Thanks for all you did for me during the time I was at Bud Davis. I will surely miss him. God bless, be strong and carry on.

To Gary, Devon, Gary, Chris and the entire DAVIS family:

The news was devastating to learn ... and it immediately brought tears to my eyes and saddeness in my heart to hear of the passing of the "ONE and ONLY CADILLAC MAN and Gentleman of Gentlemen" BUD DAVIS. WOW!! What a tremendous guy and legacy he leaves. He has put MEMPHIS on the map as the PREMIER CADILLAC store in the nation. The COMRADERY that he instituted in the legacy he leaves is priceless. I will always remember the tremendous heart that MR. DAVIS displayed and I'm sure it will live on in the leaders that he has groomed. I miss you guys and will forever consider MEMPHIS my home and BUD DAVIS my dealer of dealers. I will forever remain your CADILLAC representative and truly send my sincerest condolences as you endure such a tremendous loss. GOD BLESS YOU and KEEP YOU .... Mrs. Yvette and I wish we could be there to physically share with you in this time of grief. Try to celebrate the precious memories for they are TOO NUMEROUS to count ... Much love to you all .....
