I just wanted to thank him for inventing the amplatzer occluder device he flew over to Wilford Hall at lackland Air Force Base and trained the head cardiologist my heart surgeon Maj. Krasuski on how to do the surgery and for that I am thankful I would have died without this surgery. my mother came to the surgery and I know she didn't know about it because she would have told me she was bed bound with Parkinson's she passed away because of breast cancer in 2020 and is buried at a national military cemetery with my Dad. you're a good man Kurt. thank you for everything.

I had the good fortune of rotating through Dr. Amplatz's service as a resident in the 1970s. He was a tremendous radiologist and innovator and had a great sense of humor, which may not be well known. His contributions to medicine were numerous and legendary and will not be duplicated.

I worked with Dr. Amplatz at the University of Minnesota Medical school back in the early '70s. He was a pioneer in cardiovascular radiology. It was an honor to have known him. My condolences to his family members.
