Pastor, Farmer, Friend
Peacefully at home on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the age of 74 years. Loving husband of Mary (nee Curry). Cherished father of Stephen (Paula Barber), Joy (Wayne Deneault) and Mark. Devoted Grandpa of Matthew, Luke, Lisa and Ben Deneault and Jonathan, Rebecca and Andrew Hamilton. He will be missed by sister Anna (Don McElheran) and sister-in-law Ruth (late Terry Kelly), nieces and nephews Carey (Bill Hamilton), Philip McElheran (Rachelle), Laura Kelly (Kris Ruffo), cousins and friends. Sincere thanks to Dr. Keith MacLellan, Dr. Donald Kemp and the CLSC staff for their compassionate care. Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be no visitation on service day. Funeral Wednesday, December 28 at 1 p.m. in Grace Community Bible Church, 272 Highway 148, Shawville, Quebec. Donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute, Promisekeepers (Men's Ministry), Grace Community Bible Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

With Laird's passing, Brenda and I and many like us at the Metropolitan Bible Church here in Ottawa, have lost a dear friend. Our respect for Laird and his family, our shared love for the Lord Jesus and His work, and of course our common love for Mary, knit our hearts together with a bond that miles and all too infrequent meetings and the passage of time could not break. Yet we say, with trusting hearts, God is good and He knows best. We look forward to seeing Laird again and, in the meantime ... Mary and family... we will pray that the comfort of the Holy Spirit and the love of your Heavenly Father will be your sustaining strength.

Our deepest sympathy to the whole Hamilton family, especially Mary, Steve, Joy and Mark and all their families. We will deeply miss Laird, his love and acceptance and true friendship. We thank God for his devotion to the Word of God and teaching us over the years. His example of loving Christ, living for Christ and trying to love all mankind as God loves will never be forgotten.
