LaLine Mills Youmans FLORENCE - Marjorie LaLine Mills Youmans, 88, died June 22, 2012. A funeral will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home, led by the Reverend W.L. Collins. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Youmans was born in Florence to Emery Wilson Mills and Helen Benton Mills. She graduated with honors from Florence High School in 1940 and graduated summa cum laude from Francis Marion University in 1976. She was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society. She received her M.Ed. degree from FMU in 1980 and taught at Greenwood Elementary School from 1976 until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Lannis Youmans, Sr., her brother, Emery Wilson Mills, Jr., and her son-in-law, Jack Daryl Coleman. Surviving are two daughters, Lannis Coleman of Florence and Phyllis (Hal) McGee of Lexington, NC; three sons, Robert (Kelly) Youmans of Huntsville, AL, Paul (Kim) Youmans of Darlington, and Joe (Marie) Youmans of Elliott; six grandchildren, Rebecca Coleman, Meg and Molly McGee, Aaron and Alex Minahan, and Brandi Stewart; one great-granddaughter, Kaylah Stewart; and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 S. Irby St., Florence, SC 29501.

Eleven years ago this month, my daughter Kelly married Robert Youmans and we became part of their family. LaLine and I became correspondents, since I live in Florida. It has been a pleasure to have known her for an all too brief time. What a special person. I will miss her very much.
