WATERBURY
Laura A. Samolis
“Loving daughter, sister, aunt & friend”
Laura Ann Samolis, 48, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 17, 2020 at her home in Waterbury.
Laura was born in Waterbury on October 5, 1971, a daughter of Sarah Frances (Lukos) Samolis and the late Thomas J. Samolis. A graduate of Wilby High School class of 1989, Laura owned and operated Tom Cat’s Café in Waterville for the past 18 years. She was also very involved with the community and was a member of the Harwinton Lion’s Club, Waterbury Lodge of Elks BPOE #265, Lithuanian Club, and Waterbury VFW Post 7790 Auxilary.
Laura truly was larger than life and touched everyone she met. Aside from her civic causes, she loved being around family and friends, cooking and gardening, traveling, trips to the casino, as well as entering her prize winning chickens and ducks at local fairs. Laura was the life of every party and was loved by many for her generosity, huge heart, and vivacious personality.
Besides her mother of Watertown, Laura leaves her sisters, Victoria C. Samolis-Durfee (Peter) of Raynham, MA, Patricia A. LaFrance (David) of Pomfret Center, Sheryl Kennedy of Bantam, as well as her brothers, Thomas J. Samolis, Jr. of Waterbury and George V. Kulikauskas (Kristina) of Watertown. She also leaves a special niece, Felicity Samolis, as well as her other beloved nieces and nephews Serenity Samolis, Haley and Michelle Kulikauskas, Philip and Jack Larrow, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT. A prayer service will be celebrated on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Waterbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Laura’s name may be made to: Harwinton Lion’s Club, 100 Bentley Dr., Harwinton, CT 06791.

From Brother Tommy, I love you more than anything in the world. From Felicity too, and Serenity. I remember all the times we had playing on Yale Street, going sled riding! Skippin School, or you driving Mom & Dad's Car going to get ice-cream at 8 or 10 years old! Remember getting caught for burning out (tires) in the grass, and getting the car stuck in the snow!

Laura,
You will be missed by so many. I still remember the times as a young child feeding the ducks at your parents house while visiting, that was over 40 years. We didn't see each other for years, then met back up in our twenties. There were many times I ended up going out for a simple drink and game of pool , and wound up having the best times I could remember. One night in particular was at one of your birthday parties when you had karaoke, Everybody there had a blast, no doubt about it!. We could never relive those times, but we will never ever forget. Those times were only because of who you were, the heart you had, your enthusiasm, your humor and your laughter, and the fact that there was never a dull moment if Laura was around ! We will miss you dearly, and there's no damn way Waterbury will ever be the same without you. We will see you on the other side. May God Bless your soul. May God also bless and assist your family & friends during these difficult times .
You'll always be missed,
Marc & Wendy Belanger

I was blessed to call Laura my friend. I will miss her dearly and cherish my memories with her forever. I worked for Laura at Tomcats on and off for almost ten years. She was always so good to me and treated me like family. Her heart was so big and she provided a second home for a lot of us at Tomcats. She was my other mom. We had some wild times. My heart goes out to her family. Nothing will ever be the same. I love you Ms. Lory. Love always Queen B.

My sincere condolences to Sarah & family. I can only pray for some comfort during this sad occasion. I was about to text her about a jazz brunch at our Lodge; I knew she would say, "I'll be there !" I am part of her Brooklyn Valley VFW family and Elks 265 family but am grateful to have had her friendship. She will be missed.
Peace and blessings.
