Laurie Gaudino/Hailend Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 26 to Jan. 29, 2023.
Laurie Gaudino / Hailend 67, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 10 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany Mississippi after a short battle with small cell lung cancer. Life started off crazy as she was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut during the 1955 flood. She lived most of her life in "the valley" before moving to Mississippi. She graduated Derby high school in 1973. From 1973-1988, she worked as a secretary for F. Hallock Co in Derby. From 1989-2009, she worked as a secretary for Russell Linen service in Shelton. She then worked till she retired at Chaves Bakery in Seymour. Daughter of the late Peter J Burlak and Mildred A Burlak and sister to the late Frank and Nick Sperandeo. Mom loved life - she would tell stories when she was little about her Mom's diner called "Millie's Big Dip" which was located in Beacon Falls. She was an avid animal lover, and over the years she probably fostered around a 1000 cats and dogs. She loved traveling (especially Maine) and dining with her son and husband. She loved light houses and riding on the carousel horses. Laurie leaves behind her son Ralph Gaudino, of Washington D.C., her beloved husband Joseph John Hailend Jr, of MS and her estranged daughter Amber Anne Gaudino, of MA. There will be a small get together in Maine sometime in spring for love ones to attend to spread her ashes. She was my dads stepsister. When I was in 3rd grade, maybe 1975 she came to stay with us while we were living in South Carolina. She was bouncing around then, a free spirit. I'm glad that she settled down and had a great family. She will be missed much.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Laurie. We met at Chaves and I had fun working with her. After retiring from Chaves we would get together often and I enjoyed her company. She loved her Kitty Harold and her bird named Crackers. I remember her beloved collection of lighthouses and dishes. I haven't seen her since she moved to Miss. But we tried to keep in touch with phone calls. She was my friend and I will miss her very much

Mom I miss you so much, this is so hard. Please look after me and John during this very difficult time. We really could use a big hug and some homemade cooking from you right about now. I miss our talks so much. Keep an ear out for me because I still talk to you every night. I miss you, my angel
