Lawrence E. �Bunk� Anders 89, died at noon October 16, 2009, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born June 12, 1920, in Corbin, Kentucky, to John F. and Alice Petrey Anders, who preceded him in death. On May 30, 1942, he married Betty E. Furry, who survives. Mr. Anders was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945. He retired in 1982 as a tester and inspector from Westinghouse Electric Corp. He was a member of Lima Baptist Temple. He was a life member of Lodge 205 Free & Accepted Masons, for 62 years. He was as member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Chapter 49 Royal Arch Masons and Council 20 Royal & Select Masons. He was life member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, where he was a member for 61 years. He was a foster parent to 35 children. He loved the Lord and was a man of God. He also loved his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a gracious gardener. He knew no stranger and opened his heart to anyone in need. Survivors also include two sons, John (Marty) Anders, of Fort Jennings, Ohio, and James Anders, of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Norena Sue Guy, of Largo, Florida; six grandchildren, Brian Anders, Jennifer Sciranka, April Blake, Rachel Anders, Lane Guy and John Anders; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ian, Kaelin, Lauren, Ethan, Matthew, Cameron and Conner; two step grandsons, Robert �Steve� (Pam) Wiseman and Dan (Sue) Wiseman; and three step great-grandchildren, Stephanie Wiseman, Madison Wiseman and Tyler Wiseman. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Anders; and a sister, Ann Swartz. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Lima Baptist Temple. Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, Ohio, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a Masonic service and a Scottish Rite ring service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Baptist Temple.
