Lawrence (Larry) Newcomb

Lawrence (Larry) Bruce Newcomb, age 74 passed away June 14, 2023, in Bradenton, Florida. Larry was born January 5, 1949 in Akron, Ohio to Dock Andrew and Sylvia Marie Newcomb. Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years Alice (Alison) Simpson Newcomb; sisters Patricia (Pat) Pickelsimer, Nancy (Richard) Wolfe both of Bradenton, Florida; Nephews Jeffrey (Sandy) Archer of Bradenton, Richard (Michelle) Wolfe of Tampa, Florida, Nieces Teresa Rawe of Bradenton and Vicki (Mike) Wakefield of Cuyhoga Falls, Ohio; eight great nieces and nephews, three great, great nieces and nephews and his beloved dog "BambiJo". He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William J. Newcomb.

Larry grew up in Greensburg (Green), Ohio and graduated from Green High School in 1968. Following his parents and siblings, Larry moved from Green, Ohio to Bradenton, Florida in 1977.

He enjoyed growing up on a farm and carried that love into his adult life as a hobbyist and collector of toy tractors. Larry was extremely proficient at assembling various scale sizes of models including; tractors, farm equipment and classic automobiles. During his lifetime he was proud to have been the owner of a real John Deere tractor and a real Farmall Red Belly tractor.

Larry was an active member of the Florida Farm Toy Collectors Club and was engaged in planning and promoting shows throughout Florida. He was a trustee and active member of Cortez Road Baptist Church, Bradenton, Florida. He retired from Manatee Printers in 2022 after several years working full and part time.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2PM Saturday, July 29 at Cortez Road Baptist Church, 4411 100 Street West, Bradenton. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cortez Road Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
