Lenard F. Frericks

Northville - Lenard F. Frericks, 70, of Northville, S.D. died Monday, July 12, 2004 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. His funeral will be Saturday, July 17, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Rev. J. Edwin Coates will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield with full military rites performed by the Harris-Dennis American Legion Post #151. Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Lenard Francis Frericks was born Jan. 19, 1934, to Harry and Frieda (Holdorf) Frericks on a farm near Ashton. He was baptized at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Lenard entered the United States Army in 1956. While in the service, he met and married Lovern Owen on June 13, 1958. in Mexia, Texas. After his honorable discharge in 1958, they returned to South Dakota where they farmed together in the Northville-Athol area for 46 years. Lenard was a farmer from the start and had a love and respect for the land God loaned him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He had a great pride for this country and was a member of the Harris-Dennis American Legion Post in Mellette. Lenard and Lovern enjoyed traveling and were able to see much of this great land together. He truly loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren were very special to him. People enjoyed his sense of humor. Lenard is survived by his wife Lovern of Northville, S.D.; two sons: Ira (Marsha) Frericks of Brandon, S.D.; and Ronnie (Lisa) Frericks of Northville, S.D.; and one daughter Tana (Jim) Westby of Aberdeen, S.D.; seven grandchildren: Andrea (Jon) Grann, Jared Frericks, Tasha Westby, Trevin Westby, Laken Frericks, Kalen Frericks and Darienne Frericks, and one soon to be great-grandchild. He is also survived by three brothers: Vern (Betty) Frericks of Northville, S.D.; Richard (Patty) Frericks of Ashton, S.D.; and Gary (Ruth) Frericks of Lander, Wyo.; and three sisters: Helen Bair of Lake City, S.D.; Sally (Mike) Sale of Ashton, S.D.; and Judy (Terry) Frost of Ashton, S.D.; and one brother-in-law Dean Taylor of Redfield, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Frericks
