Leon Antosh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 14 to Jun. 15, 2008.
Leon A. Antosh MONROE, Wis. Leon "Lee" Albert Antosh loved his five children, had a passion for farming, traveling, genealogy, cooking, refurbishing vintage cars and tractors and shooting pictures with his old Leica. He was a civil engineer by trade. Lee passed away peacefully of cancer on Oct. 30, 2007, in Monroe, Wis., surrounded by his children and their mother, Charletta. Lee was born in Bellingham, June 20, 1930, to Stanley J. Antosh and Anna Rudnick Antosh. He was preceded in death by his parents, his little brother, Robert, and his sister, Stella Kirby (Joe). He is survived by the mother of his children, Charletta Cifre Antosh of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Laura Hilliard (Artie) and their children, Keena and Krista of Goldwaithe, Texas; daughter, Rachael Lungstrom (Kraig) and their children, Allie and Aden, of Plymouth, Minn.; son, Stanley Antosh (Julie Hughes) and their daughter, Madi, of Palm Springs, Calif.; daughter, Eden Barker (Tracey) and their daughter, Sydney, of Frisco, Texas; and son, Paul Antosh (Dayna) and their children, Kassidy and Nicholas of Hooksett, N.H. He is also survived by his sisters, Celia Dumas (Bill) of Arizona and their son, Robert; his sister Stellas (Joe) children, Joe Kirby (Amy) and their children, Nicole, Jenna and Caitlin; Karen Baretto (Chuck) and their children, Kaileen and Charlie; and Christine Kirby and John Kirby. He is also survived by numerous other family members, friends all over the world, and his beloved dachshunds Gabby and Golla. Lee graduated in 1948 from Millis High School in Millis. He attended Northeastern University in Boston, and graduated there with a B.S. in civil engineering in 1953. He then entered the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps and served on active duty as a commissioned officer with the Naval Construction Battalion in Korea, and then at Subic Bay, Philippines. He and Charletta Cifre were married in November 1953. After active duty, he enlisted in the Naval Reserves, until 1968. In 1956, he joined the Guy F. Atkinson Co., one of the largest U.S. contractor and engineering firms. At GFA Co., he worked as project engineer and manager on many hydroelectric projects, dams, tunnels and bridges throughout the U.S. and in Pakistan and Venezuela. In late 1966, the family moved to Erie, Ill., where Lee worked as project manager on the construction management project at the Cordova Nuclear Power Station. In 1972, he and Charletta founded ACPAC, a concrete pumping pipe and accessories company that Charletta managed in Hillsdale, IL. He developed many patents, also. During their time in Erie, while Lee commuted to various jobs, the family lived on a 40 acre hobby farm and bred and raised hogs, and kept Arabian horses. They also acquired another property in Erie and in Osceola, Iowa, and grew corn, soy beans and hay. He retired to Millbrae, Calif., and then back to the family farm in Erie, Ill., where he worked to get the farm and house in working order, after many years as rental property. He passed away while residing in Erie. There will be a memorial Mass to celebrate Lees life at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Medway, at 10 a.m., Monday, June 16. He will be interned in St. Josephs Cemetery. Memorials are preferred, to the Cancer Society of ones choice. Although it has been more than 65 years since Leon left Bellingham, I remember a fine classmate
