Leopoldo Camales Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2017.

Leopoldo Raguine Camales, 71, originally of Oxnard, CA for over 30 years and most recently a resident of Stockton, CA died on September 23, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born on July 28, 1946 in Bataan, Mariveles, Philippines. A blue-collar type who loved his family, Leopoldo enjoyed family outings such as camping. He enjoyed walking his dog Wally daily, spending time with his grand kids, home projects, gardening, cooking and serving food. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ligaya Educalan; his four children, Wendell Camales (Elgie), Oliver Camales, Leopoldo Camales, Jr., Alexander Camales (Maria); two grandchildren (Justin and Jasmine); his brothers Baltazar Lozano (Elsa), Ernesto Lozano (Lorna), Ciriaco Lozano, Jr. (Annie), Mario Lozano (Lala), Robert Camales (Aida), Manny Camales (Cecil), Johnny Camales (Tina), Emil Camales (Eva), Alfredo Jr Camales (Amy), Rene (Vangie), Rolando Lozano; his sisters Merlita Escalona (Ben), Marichu Torrijos (Ding); father Alfredo Camales; and many loving nieces and nephews. Dear Camales family, I just learned of Leo's passing. I am so sorry. Leo and I served in the Navy together, recruiting for the Los Angeles Navy Recruiting District. He was a perfect representative for the Navy to the community at large. He wore his uniform with pride, was respectful to everyone, totally dependable...a complete credit to the Navy and the country he served. He earned my admiration. I recognized his leadership qualities, left him to his assigned tasks, and he consistently excelled, needing no direction. We both moved away from Oxnard after retiring from the Navy, to be near family, but stayed in touch via Facebook. One day I realized that I hadn't heard from him in a while. So I did some research and found that Chief Camales had passed away. I am deeply saddened by your loss. I consider this a personal loss for me as well. May God bless Leo and the Camales family.
