Leslie Buttler-Fojtik Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 26, 2013.
Jeremiah 29:11.

Leslie Ann Buttler-Fojtik our beautiful daughter, wife, mother, and sister went to be with our Lord, Jesus, on Sunday February 24, 2013. It was much too soon for all of us left to grieve our loss. Truly all who knew her loved her. A light here on earth went out. Leslie was born on June 7, 1968 in Austin, Texas. She was the Daughter of Georgia Ann and Larry Jack Buttler. The whole Buttler family joined Riverbend Church in the early 1980ties and were very much active members. Leslie was baptized after following Christ when she was 9 years old along with her Daddy Larry. Leslie is the youngest of the three daughters. Kathy Moore and Shari Buttler her two older sisters loved her immeasurably. She will be greatly missed by her only surviving grandparents, George and Marion Shell of Georgetown. Her Aunt Lynn and Uncle Morris Hoover were always there with love and kindness. Her first cousins Lindsey and Creighton Hoover were a very big part of her life. Kathy's daughters Courtney and Rachael and Shari's daughter Elizabeth dearly loved their Aunt Leslie.

She lived most of her life in Austin, having lived about four years in Sherman, Texas with her parents and sisters and the last four and a half years in Katy with her loving husband Steven and her precious daughter Alexis Ann Fojtik. Sister-in-Law Paulette Hendrix, niece, Erica and her husband Bob Blankenship were a loving part of her life. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Edna Shell (her Mimi) and Jack and Vera Buttler.

After graduation Leslie accepted a teaching job with A.I.S.D. at Winn Elementary School in N.E. Austin. During her time at Winn she was a very successful teacher with many parents requesting her for their children. It was at Winn that she was nominated as "Teacher of the Year." During her time there is when she met and married the love of her life Steven Fojtik. With this marriage she gained three sons, Matt, Kyle and Cody, now that these boys have become wonderful men, she has a special love for Matt's wife Katie and Kyle's wife Madeline and Cody's girlfriend, Ashley.

A special thanks to longtime friends Kalene and Janet who were with her at the end of her life and continue to be a blessing to her family.

She later transferred to Highland Park Elementary in West Austin. While there she gave birth to their beautiful daughter Alexis Ann. Highland Park Elementary was a school that her Aunt Lynn Hoover taught at for many years and where later her sister Shari worked in the school's office.

A memorial service was held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Riverbend Church in the Smith Chapel. An internment will be held at the Remembrance Gardens at a later date.

Believing in the resurrection . . . morning will come.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. II Timothy 4:7 NLT

Mrs Fojtik,
You were my beautiful 3rd grade teacher that taught me the love of reading. You always had a beautiful smile and wonderful disposition with us children. You smelled of Salon Selectives hairspray and always had a warm hug for us and that is the reason that you stood out in my life!

May you rest in peace and may our Lord comfort your family in their time of loss and grief. May they find comfort in knowing that they will see your face again soon!

Love,

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
I pray for strength for you as you walk these dark days. Please know that you will be in many people's prayers, including my own.

I taught briefly with Leslie in Katy, and she was my oldest son's math teacher. She was an energetic and funny woman who loved Lexi with all of her heart.

May God bless her family.

Dear Georgia and Larry, Lynn and Morris...Losing a child, a niece or a spouse is surely one of life's most traumatic events. An untimely death is particularly tragic. We are so very sorry for your loss. The service at Riverbend was a beautiful tribute and a celebration of a life well-lived. I hope, as Dr. Haney said, having the Chapel full to overflowing with friends and loved ones was a salve to your heartache and a demonstration of how much you are loved and respected. May you find hope and peace through our Heavenly Father. He DOES have the whole world in His hands.

Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our understanding: Deal graciously with Steve and Lexi in their grief. Surround them with your love, that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss, but have confidence in your goodness, and strength to meet the days to come: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

To the family and friends of Ms. Fojtik, I want to offer my condolences. Ms. Fojtik was my fifth grade math teacher at Highland Park. Her cheerful and welcoming demeanor, great sense of humor, and desire to help her students learn made a strong impression on me. Ms. Fojtik helped me through a rough year and prepared me for many great things to come, and I thank you for sharing her with us. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was stunned to hear of Leslie's passing. She was my son, Rusty's 5th grade teacher at Highland Park. And he would most likely say his favorite. (No offense to the other 5th grade teachers. :-)) I became close to her sister, Shari, as I worked in the office occasionally. Such wonderful folks. Leslie was always gracious and compassionate to her students. She will be missed tremendously. So Although I know that no words can ease the loss you feel, just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear sweet one! I shall never forget how much fun we had when we worked and played together. Your laugh and your smile always lit up the whole world. I remember the first time i meant you I knew that we would be great friends.

Mrs. Fojtik was not only my fifth grade math teacher, she worked with my mother for many years at Highland Park. She used to look after me along with Ms. Matetich after school as my mother worked in the fifth grade wing with them. I would go there every single day after school or even during school. She was such a spunky and cool teacher, and very, very girly! One of the things I remember most, its very ridiculous that I remember this, is her high pitched sneeze! I used to laugh every time I heard it! She was such a loving person, and an amazing teacher. I will never ever forget the time I was able to know her.

I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything you have done to make the boys the men they are today. My prayers are with your beautiful, amazing daughter, Alexis. Georgia and Larry, my heart breaks for you, no parent should ever have to bury their child. Steve, I know she was the love of your life, as you were hers. I pray God will be with you during this time. My prayers are also with Shari, Kathy, Matt, Katie, Cody, Kyle, Maddy and the rest of Leslie's family and friends.
