Dear John,
Leslie was a wonderful person, I am very sorry that we have lost her. I was extremely lucky to have been chosen to replace her at Les Grands Ballets but she had left awfully big shoes to fill. She, of course, could never be replaced. My thoughts are with you.
Sincerely,

Dear John
As a young dancer joining the company in 69, I have such fond memory of Leslie-May. I will never forget how beautiful she was in Carmina Burana, I could not stop watching her from the wings. Two years later in Paris, we rented a car together and toured les Chateaux de la Loire. We had such a good time together , she was such a free spirit! I will miss her, but she always will be there in my heart. My sincere condolences to you John for your loss.

Those brief wonderful years at Les Grands Ballets...there are so many lovely warm images and reminiscences but few sparkle as brightly as Leslie May...She was an exquisite beauty in every way...heart, mind, countenance and soul. I loved her then, I love her now...she is and has been always in my heart. She is, in fact, one more proof positive of another place or state of being...a hereafter... She is a spiritual light that will carry on forever. Take care dear sweet Leslie...'til we meet again.

My love to you always,
Paul

Dear John,
Leslie May was a season's veteran in LGBC when I arrived in 1969. She was so kind and helpful to the new dancers and made us feel so welcome. I always felt so comfortable with her. She was one we could always go to for advice or a little pep talk. What a special lady she was! Always kind, always down to earth and always lots of fun. She is a big part of my wonderful memories of my years with the company.
My deepest sympathy to you.
Sincerely,
Barbara (Withey) Ehnes

Dear John,
I had the opportunity to visit Leslie-May Wednesday just a day before her passing away, Vincent was also there to visit her. When she saw me her face lighted up and expressed a surprised joy. I have to mention that Leslie-May, Nicole and I joined the company in 1963. So for an hour we reminisce through anecdotes that happened during the first American Tour in 1964. I told her that I remembered her laugh in the bus with René and, and on, and Vincent recalling other anecdotes. She laughed, though without a sound, because of the tubes but she was so alert, lively, that we thought that for these few minutes, she had seemed to have forgotten how much her body hurt. I will always remember her laugh and so many other things that are better translated by her spirit which our memory knows how to keep intact.

Goodbye Leslie-May, because it is only a goodbye.

I think you were both lucky to have found each other.

My deepest sympathy.
