Lester Franklin Schwab Jr. passed away on January 15th, 2021 at the age of 76. Born March 18, 1944, Mr. Schwab was a New Orleans native and lifelong resident. Graduate of Cor Jesu Class of 1962 and LSUNO 1967. A member of the Krewe of Pegasus, he loved Mardi Gras and New Orleans Saints Football. He served 30 years working for the city of New Orleans serving last as Deputy Director of the Vieux Carré Commission. He enjoyed playing cards, the casino, chess, Dickens, and Some Like it Hot. Predeceased by his parents, Lester Schwab Sr. & Wilhelmina Goothye Schwab. Lovingly remembered by his three children, Doug Schwab, Donna Jacks, Dawn Leslie, and his grandchildren Kelcie & Kaitlyn Schwab, Mia Jacks, Dakota & Delaney Leslie. His significant sense of humor and love of comedy lives on in his family. He will be interred at St. Roch # 1, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Last weekend my father Lester Schwab passed away at the age of 76 in our hometown of New Orleans. My father meant a lot to me as he was a good man , had a big heart , was sharp witted and incredibly funny.
I want to say how much I’ll miss him and what he meant to me and that I love him very much. It’s very hard saying goodbye to your father but I know that he’s not in pain anymore and in a much better place.
Dad .. I Love you , miss you and I look forward to seeing you again one day down the road so that we can hang out and share some laughs together again.

I was sorry to learn of Lester's death. We worked together for a number of years in the City's Civil Service Department. He was a talented and dedicated employee whose sense of humor was appreciated . He was appreciated for his intelligence and ability to handle assignments with thoughtfulness and care. His advancement in later positions during his years of service with the City was a testament to his abilities. I shall remember him as a fine example of public service.
