Linda (Jody) Streetman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2024.
Linda Jo (Jody) Streetman January 8,1950-May 24, 2024 was born in the

Eastern Oregon city of Prineville. Her parents were Willie and Lu

Streetman.

From the time she was born Jody loved to live outdoors. You could always

find her with her siblings or the neighborhood gang. She always got us into

trouble as she had such a sense of adventure, a zest for life and she loved

being the leader. Her imagination was larger than life itself. She never knew

a stranger. Once you met her, you were a friend for life.

Jody had an affinity for sports. Many neighborhood ball games were held in

our parents' yard. Because of her outgoing personality we always had kids

over just to hang out with her. When she wanted to avoid chores, she could

be found at the bordering fence line, talking to the neighbor's horses.

While in high school Jody participated in track and field and threw javelin.

She qualified for the Olympic trials that were held in Colorado. Our father

went with her. Jody was in the height of her glory. She met so many

athletes, collected autographs and couldn't wait to get home and tell us all

about it. Dad just sat there and beamed with pride. She held the high

school records for shotput, discus and javelin.

Upon graduation in 1968 she attended Central Oregon Community College in Bend for two years and then transferred to Southern Oregon State College in Ashland, earning a bachelor's degree in education. She went on to the master's program at the University of Oregon and received an

administration license.

After college Jody got her first teaching job at Long Creek High School and

then moved to Medford where she joined the Eagle nation in Eagle Point.

She always hoped she would make an impact on her students, as her

students made an impact on her life. Along the way she coached many

sports as well as the Special Olympics.

Jody's retirement was a welcome milestone. She loved to travel, golf and

watch many team sports. Her dogs, Maddy and Emma loved going with

her.

Jody's last days were not pleasant, but she told us she was ready. She had

peace around her and never shed a tear. She was ready to meet her

heavenly father.

She is survived by sisters, Barbara (Alton) Cromer, Jan (Leonard) Sletager,

Lisa (Gary Smith) Gonser, Debbie (Gil) Enneberg, niece Tracey, nephews Dereck

and Zachary and great nieces Sofia, Maddy and Piper.

A memorial service is scheduled Saturday, September 28 at 2 p.m. at Trail Christian Fellowship, 18881 Hwy 62, Eagle Point, OR
