Ling Yuk Tang Wong

Ling Yuk Tang Wong, 78, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on July 12, after a courageous fight against cancer. Ling was born to Tang Yuk Loon and Wong May Chun on March 27, 1933 just outside of Canton, China. She was fourth of ten children. She left Canton for Hong Kong as a teenager. On August 10, 1953 she married Hon (Och Ngung Yee) Wong and immigrated to the United States in 1954, settling in Pittsburgh, PA. Having left her family in Hong Kong and China, she worked relentlessly over many years to sponsor many of her siblings to be able to come to the United States as well. She was a member of the Pittsburgh Chinese Church and worked as a waitress at various restaurants. She and her husband then opened their own restaurant, Wong's Pagoda Inn, which they ran and operated until their retirement in 1989. In 1990 they moved to Sugar Land, Texas where Ling became a member of Chinese Baptist Church. She was also very active in the Chinese Cultural Center and loved to perform Chinese folk dances. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 older sisters and 2 younger brothers. She is survived by her husband Hon; son William and Shirley and grandchildren Jennifer and her husband Timothy Wong, Stephen and Christine; her daughter Margie Joe and Larry and grandchildren Jeffrey and Dana; her son Paul and Betsy and grandchildren Sarah and Rebekah; 2 brothers and 3 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00PM Sunday July 17, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted on Monday July 18, 2011 at 10AM in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel and will be officiated by Pastor Ricky Leung.
