Lois J. Weiss

WEISS, LOIS JEAN (SPEVACEK) Holland Lois Jean Weiss (Spevacek), age 67 of Holland, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital. Lois was born in Chicago, IL on February 19, 1947. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary in Westchester and graduated in 1965. Lois married her first true love, David, in 1968. David and Lois began an incredible journey and over the next 20 years they had 11 children. She described her children as her greatest accomplishment, and centered her entire life around her children and later her grandchildren. She was especially proud that all 11 of her children attended and graduated from college, which is something that neither she nor her parents had the opportunity to do. In 1998, her first grandchild was born, and so began another incredible journey. As great as she was as a mother, she was an even more incredible grandmother. She spent the next 15 years devoting her time and love to her grandchildren. She became a "professional" Day Care provider and spent nearly every minute with her grandchildren who loved their "Bubba" dearly. Lois enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities and sporting events, and was their greatest fan. The kids always played and danced better when Bubba was in the stands. Her children were her best friends and her grandchildren were her whole life. She will be missed dearly, but never forgotten. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Spevacek and Marianne Spevacek. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dr. David Weiss of Holland; her children, Brian and Jennifer Weiss of Richland, Scott and Valerie Weiss of Hudsonville, Keith and Angie Weiss of St. Charles , IL, Heidi and Troy McDaid of Hudsonville, Mark and Rachel Weiss of Byron Center, Michael and Kelly Weiss of Spring Lake, Kimberly Weiss and Jason Cellini of St. Charles, IL, Patrick and Anna Weiss of Holland, Meghan Weiss of Holland, Liesje and Michael Jones of Holland and Sarah and Thomas Hull of Grand Rapids; her grandchildren, Noah, William, Zachary, Nicholas, Reygan, Kellan, Nathan, Allison, Samuel, Natalie, Jack, Layla, Magnolia, Crosby, Benjamin, Olivia, Emma, Nico, Mia, Gabrielle and Ariya; her sister, Carol and Duane Smith of New Orleans, LA and her nephews, Jon and David Smith. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 28, 2014 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, corner of 13th and Maple with Fr. Charles Brown officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-5 PM with wake prayers at 4:30 PM on Sunday April 27, 2014 at the Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 10-11 AM prior to the funeral mass at St. Francis de Sales.
