Lora Schertz Obituary
CHATHAM, IL - Lora Lynn Schertz, 51, of Chatham, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at her residence.
She was born May 6, 1965, in Streator, to Donald L. and Gladys M. Wudtke Schmillen. She married Jeffrey Dean Schertz on July 11, 1987.
Lora enjoyed making jewelry, quilting and spending time in her garden. She was a member of the Springfield Art Association and attended Christ the King Church.
She was a PC support specialist at DICKEY-john, where she worked for over 16 years.
Lora will be greatly missed by her husband of 29 years, Jeff; children: Emily Schertz of Madison, Ill., Jacob Schertz of Bloomington, and Anna Schertz, at home; parents, Don and Gladys Schmillen of Toluca, Ill.; brothers, Tony (Susan) Schmillen of Sherman, and Steve (Amanda) Schmillen of Ottawa; sister, Valerie (Gary) Conrady of Lincoln; in-laws: Jim (Marilyn) Schertz of Stanford, and Connie (Chuck) Winks of Normal; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation rites will be accorded before services by Cremation Services of Central Illinois in Chatham.
Her family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL 62629.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Springfield Art Association, 700 North 4th St., Springfield, IL 62702.

To Jeff and family, Steve and I want you all to know how sorry we are for your loss. Can't say enough good things about Lora. She always had a smile and a kind word and always very helpful.She's special to me as we share the same birthday. We would always meet each other on that special day, to tell each other happy birthday. We will miss her, but her sweet spirit will always have her near. Lora will be missed by all who knew her. May God's love, peace and comfort be with each of you during this difficult time.
